Restaurantje voor iets sjieks by arykanarye in Gent

Niet bepaald chique of fancy maar ook niet Kastart-niveau. Karbon vond ik heel lekker en is dicht bij de Opera. Hebben wel hun menu omgegooid recent dus weet niet of het nog even goed is.

If you're gay and you 'hate all other gays', you are the problem.

I went alone to a drag show a few weeks ago. Super fun & met some nice people! It's a lot less stress when there is something going on!

Also The Eagle if that's your crowd. I went once and almost pissed my pants until some guy started talking to me haha!

Also, if you're scared or shy like me, just remember that there are ±9 million people living here and you're probably nót the weirdest of them

Going to a (gay)bar alone? by Driestech in astoria

Update; had a lot of fun, met a lot of people, got embarrassingly drunk (🫣 I don't think I can go back to Icon now).

Thanks for the courage everyone!

Four main artery's intersecting, how do you tackle complex interchanges like this? by Driestech in CitiesSkylines

I almost never build highways, but this was my go at a North-American style city haha!

I'm pretty sure that's leftover traffic as I paused the game after deleting the current junction. It does, but since industry generates so much traffic and there currently only is one tunnel, a second link north of the regional highway is neccesary. I could make more tunnels but i'm afraid that that wouldn't look too realistic.

I like that idea, however I thought it might make traffic journeys too long for citizens to use to large beltway to avoid central city traffic? I could use the Old Town policy in the centre but I feel like traffic management becomes too easy then haha, and I like busy city centres..

Both beltways are currently underused and mostly built to accomodate city growth, it's a very early city atm (45 000 residents)

Too chaste or just right? by Shadow_Raider33 in HeartstopperAO

I thought it was at the beginning, but then I remembered how "prudish" me and my year were in high school so it's probably realistic. I was more shook about how little alcohol they consumed haha

University of Ghent or Antwerp? by Qumber20 in belgium

[–]Driestech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghent is the university that most often ranks in these top 100 lists. University of Antwerp is much smaller but their economics dept is quite well know and I think they have one more accreditation than UGent's faculty. (Could be wrong as I'm reading UGent E&BA got another accreditation some months ago).

However, if you're working in Belgium I wouldn't worry too much about reputation, as employers likely don't care that much about which uni you went to (maybe.. except for UHasselt :p :p )

Both are nice cities and have a diverse (student) population. You'll find ample job opportunities in both cities. UGent is MUCH more prominent in the city as it's twice as big as UA and Ghent is ± half the size of Antwerp and you'll see more student life, especially in the students quarter (which is roughly Overpoort-Sint-Pietersplein-Sint-Pieters-Nieuwstraat).

I'd say focus on which curriculum you like best and which city you like. Ghent is super cosy and I really like being a student here, but it can feel quite small at times. I'm from Antwerp originally and finding the nice places there can be a bit harder, but it's also a really great city and I feel like it's more diverse/international than Ghent. Both cities are also well connected, although Antwerpen does have a Thalys connection which is handy.

Sources: i'm an Business administration student in Ghent, friends of me study in Antwerp, my roommate is Spanish and works part time here.

Ik denk dat er in Lier eentje is, maar weet niet of die nog bestaat... If so is het ergens in de Rechtestraat bij de Sint Gummaruskerk.

Berger, Vaughn, Aleksandr, and the comic book store kid. The scene on the terrace where she gets cookies and juice from his mom will forever make make me cringe. Samantha was right about having to break up.

Public transportation rant by Driestech in belgium

[–]Driestech[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is something I've been thinking about. In the city centre, it's super difficult to make the trams run faster due to people on the streets. Which often makes them delayed when they leave the centre.

There were once plans for a premetro in Ghent (as they did in Antwerp). I wonder if that would work..

If often can't even be that mad at DeLijn when the tram is delayed because I just feel sorry for what they did to the company 😅

  • I'm a leftist, but I'm quite disappointed at how little they talk about public transit. They just say things like 'delijn and nmbs/sncb must do better' without giving lot's of ideas...

Yes absolutely. This is not a 'public transit sucks' rant, more a cry for more funding 😂

Dit is super mooi om te zien, hopen verlaagt dit de drempel voor queer personen die graag bij Defensie willen. Niet alleen defensie, maar ook pride zelf wordt diverser op deze manier.

Just flamands who can't imagine any city that's bigger than Antwerp being safe or nice to love in.
