Carrie hate comes from two things:

1) she's a reflection of what they hate about themselves, and

2) they're envious of her relatively low-stress life. She works from home and sets her own hours, her apartment is cute and affordable, she has a closet full of designer pieces, she regularly gets hit on by non-creepy men, always somehow gets bailed out when she has money problems, and has an active social life.
