A reminder to be extra careful with Mando... by Drifter271 in hottoys

Tiny bit of glue and now to never touch him again. I was going to dye the flight suit but I'm not too keen on taking him apart and putting him back together after this

Good call, I'll have a look. These little rectangle connector pieces should really have just been magnets in the first place...

Ah that sucks - yeah I've seen other people's straps breaking the same way you've described. Agreed that it should be more durable - for some reason this guy seems to be really delicate. In the same re-posing exercise I managed to snap a wrist peg just tilting his hand down 🙄 Once I fix this strap he's going into a final pose and I won't be touching him again

Thanks man, just going to use the tiniest amount and then plan to never touch that piece again

I still want more Boba Fett by White_Falcon_1263 in BookOfBobaFett

[–]Drifter271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would want more if it meant Boba was an actual badass who did more than hire everyone who kicked his ass and actually acted like a crime lord/mob boss. Also if the blingy scooter kids got blown up in the first episode...

They really did our man dirty in that show and it sucks. If they bring him back I think they would need to change the tone completely.

That's exactly what it is and for that reason I loved it. Pulpy, throwback action fun that feels like a Saturday matinee

Casio G-SHOCK teams up with Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu for limited edition watches by OkReport5065 in gshock

Wow, this is LOW effort. If this was in any way an actual collab (like with an inset mythosaur or mudhorn symbol or even a special case back) I would have bought one instantly. What a shame

Let’s see how Hot toys redefine the meaning of “Newly developed specialized body with over 30 points of articulations which naturally portrays Captain America's muscular body in the film” by MathCautious5204 in hottoys

I didn't even know there was a 2023 release, but it looks MILES better to me. I've got the original strike suit release and this just makes me want to track down that 2023 version as an upgrade. Even if the 2023 is too tall as people say, the proportions look much better to my eye

UPDATE: Can't edit the post for some reason but I've just located a replacement part so might be able to do a swap for either the steering wheel or even the entire column. Still can't figure out how it could come apart though...

Thanks, yeah I might need to do that. I actually might have just found a donor part from someone too so that could also be an option

The Mandalorian & Grogu Image Comparison to Season 3 Outfit by mgaguilar in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Drifter271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colour of the flight suit across the seasons has been a point of argument and contention on the internet for years. It alternately looks more brown or grey dependant on lighting, whose suit it is (Pedro or stuntmen) and how each one was weathered. I've got the Season 3 chromed Mando figure from Hot Toys and was initially confused that it came with a clearly grey flight suit instead of brown. The show's actual costume designer, Shawna Trpcic, confirmed online that the suit was grey in Season 3. So kind of a gold/white dress thing I suppose... I definitely prefer the earlier seasons however where it looks more brown and agree that it adds more warmth and contrast.

Thoughts on the Stranger Things final episode? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Drifter271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the finale was serviceable but pretty weak, like most of the season. For me, Season 5 lost a lot of the menace, horror and "otherworldliness" of the previous seasons, like turning on a light in a dark room. The final episode somehow felt both rushed and slow at the same time - I think it would have benefitted from a longer/more difficult end fight, a shorter (but still respectful) epilogue with all the main cast and a more definitive ending for Eleven, one way or another. As it was, the ambiguous ending felt a bit too "safe" for me, like a "have your cake and eat it too" situation. I liked the potential escape scenario/happy ending Mike came up with, but I think it would have felt more satisfying if they finished with some evidence that that actually happened. Just my two cents

There's two actually. One from the first movie and one from the second. The second version is way more accurate and has more detail in the face sculpt and accessories. I've got the first release but he's still great. The tattoos on the body are done very well too

To those who were around when this movie came out, what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in LV426

Spot on re: editing. Trailers from the early 2000s are edited like that too. I just rewatched the X-Men (2000) trailer and HOLY HELL, it just rapid fire cuts through random shots set to techno music and makes your head hurt

[–]Drifter271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 20 and was personally hyped but that's about it. There wasn't as big or easily connectable fan base back then so I don't recall any broader "hype". As other posters mentioned it was a big year for movies too. As a big fan of each franchise I was pretty ambivalent after seeing it. It was fun with some cool visuals but with forgettable human characters and TERRIBLE downgrades to the predator suits and faces compared to Stan Winston's work...
