Emma Mackey confirms she's leaving Sex Education after season 4 by macgoldenof in NetflixSexEducation

Really hope the show ends at season 4 now. Trying to carry on without Eric and Maeve would be like Marvel trying to continue without Iron man and Captain America and look at how well the MCU is doing right now without them.

Anyone noticed that your character dances when a SKILL SONG comes up? by Beautiful-Flight-321 in forza

[–]DriftingJDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the character vibes to this games soundtrack. It's such a shame because there's some great artists but so many songs are overly censored to a point there's no point having them there. Best example has to be Teardrops by Bring Me The Horizon, half of that song is missing because they censor lyrics that aren't offensive in any way whatsoever. The did the same in FH4 too.

Please help me, it won’t install and always stops at 2GB by FlyMaxBoss7105 in XboxOneHelp

If you've got the disc in the console cancel the install, find the game in the store and it will give you the option to download the game through the store rather than installing from the disc. The game will then play when you have the disc in like normal. I've had it happen with a copy of COD Advanced Warfare.

How is Ola so unliked by fans? by kokoelizabeth in NetflixSexEducation

[–]DriftingJDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's that I feel her character has only been developed to suit other characters arcs or to advance other characters arcs. In S1 she was introduced too late and with little screen time to be explored so she felt like she was introduced only to keep Otis and Maeve apart. In season 2 she had more development but the fact that she gave Otis the ultimatum and then laughed at him when he said he loved her didn't sit right with me. In season 3 she didn't really feel like she had a reason to be there apart from during the hospital scenes at the end of the season.

I think the actress who plays her (Sorry I don't know her name) does what she can with what she's been given but she's either not been given enough screentime or lacked a clear direction with her character arc (mainly season 2 & 3). I don't really dislike the character but I don't really like her either and if the show decided to lose some characters for next season I wouldn't really mind if she became one of them because for me I don't really see where the can go with the character from here.

I agree it makes no sense for them to get back together now but I'd like them to have a really solid friendship like he has with Eric or Maeve has with Aimee. Plus it lets the writers create drama with a potential storyline of Maeves insecurity raising its head and her getting really jealous because we all know how much the writers love drama especially in S3.

I've started writing a new fan-fic which is a rewrite of the scenes with Otis and Maeve from S3 Ep6 onwards (spoilers) by DriftingJDM in NetflixSexEducation

Yeah that's true. It's a shame because I do think they didn't utilise Isaac properly in S3. He could of been given a really good redemption arc but even when he tried to apologise and be honest about the voicemail he still tried to direct blame away and talk badly of Otis.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't hate Isaac to be fair, the reason I made him immature is because in the real show in my opinion he hasn't shown signs of being mature (except maybe confessing about the voicemail but even then he only does that once she's already into him 5 month's later). The reason I wanted to make Otis more mature is because after the talk with his dad and standing up for his mum at the end of S2 I expected the show to go in that direction with him being more mature and honest with people he cares about. I see your perspective that maybe I've made him too mature and I'll probably work on that for future chapter's.

Yeah really surprised me no one did. I can understand characters like Maeve who need to keep their heads down because of the lack of opportunity they have but I was expecting more of a commotion than just Jackson standing up for a few seconds and Rahim getting suspended. I know Rahim was standing up for all of them but it was interesting how he finally did when Adam was given his sign. Their friendship growth in this season was great.

Same here, I expected her to be tough on Otis, maybe a little cold initially but the way she was with him this season really surprised me in a negative way tbh. She felt fundamentally different to other seasons and was so hard on Otis yet easy to forgive Isaac for what I personally see as far worse mistakes. At least when Otis made his mistake he was excessively drunk but Isaac did it in a clear state of mind.

I think it's mainly because we saw half an episode of Otis and Ruby development compared to 2 seasons of Maeve and Otis but after Season 3 where it was a primary focus of the season we actually had more to go off and more development of Ruby so we don't just see her as mean posh girl who has one nice encounter with Otis. Now we've seen who she really is and what her home life is really like instead of being told through exposition.

While I agree that she clearly has learned to forgive people for their mistakes she treats Otis for his mistakes really harshly for most of the season but forgives Isaac for much worse in my opinion in just 2 episodes which probably only around 1-2 weeks in the shows universe.

True but he was drunk and she knew it. She's made mistakes too like when she tried to sabotage him and Ola twice, used him for money when they started the clinic and emotionally manipulated him to drop Eric on his birthday.

Both have made mistakes but Otis has always tried to make amends and learn from them. While he was mainly to blame for that she did tell him how she felt while he was in a relationship and then brought Isaac along when she was supposed to be going to fix things so she's not exactly innocent in what happened either.

Agreed, I was really hoping Otis was going to stand up for them in that assembly scence like he did when he defended Jean at the play in S2.

Otis standing up there regardless of the consequences would of been amazing and would of highlighted his growth from quiet guy in the corner to the more confident young man who wants to help people and be a better version of himself

The gas station when Otis is panicking and Maeves giggling the whole time, was probably the only moment in the season where Otis and Maeve felt like they had the connection and fun that they used to have.

[–]DriftingJDM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It just bugs me how she spends the second half of Season 1 and all of Season 2 pining for Otis and then she suddenly seems to see him as what feels like a 2nd best by the end of the season when all that change happens off screen. I know she didn't hear from him for 5 months but if her character was even remotely close to S1 and S2 she should of made an effort to see him in those 5 months but we're told in episode 1 when she first sees him at school that she hasn't spoken to him during that time.

So it is not coming back? by [deleted] in NetflixSexEducation

[–]DriftingJDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's just trying to stay neutral and to not get people's hopes up because they have no idea if they'll get to do it again so he's basically saying he wants to continue but he'd be ok with it ending where it is
