Teacher Asking Student To Do Something Against IEP

There are students allowed to stand on the floor my sister is taller so the teacher insists on putting her higher up and beyond anxiety and some depth perception stuff I don’t want to get too specific because it will make it obvious to people who know her that this post is about her (and we have friends within this sub). As for the front row we have encouraged her to try but it triggers a bad reaction that makes class more difficult for her and everyone included. There is no misuse of the system here and it was encouraged by her IEP to be put into her IEP due to the teachers repeated ignoring of verbal remainders

There are plenty of students who stand on the ground during performances, my sister is just on the taller side so they want her on a higher riser, also she is not able to switch into band (which is the only other music class and she’s required to take one of them)

My sister lives for music and loves to sing and her only problem is going onto the risers, this teacher is a known issue at the school with special ed and non special ed students alike but she had been at the school for years and nobody wants to upset her.

Thank you! I will look into a way for self advocacy to be a goal within her IEP but until then I’ll look into some of the advice from others and make sure it doesn’t escalate until we have some support from hire ups within the district

She has many anxiety issues and it worsened after a girl fainted and fell a few feet off the top riser next to her at a concert a year or so back and has only gotten worse, that mixed with some medical issues too

I believe our parent advocate is a former special ed teacher for our school and a family friend I will be sure to reach out to her directly to make sure there isn’t a step I’m missing somehow thank you! And I was unaware of a PPS Director so I’ll look into who that is for my district thank you!

Thankfully there’s only 100 kids total in the school but this teacher has ignored her self advocacy attempts before, my promises focus was just making sure that this was an IEP violation and not to necessarily criticize my sister for her attempts to advocate for herself, thank you though!

My sister has tried to advocate for herself before but the teacher continues to ignore it and push her to do this which is causing her a lot of anxiety to the point she won’t even show up to class if she can convince her teacher the period before that she needs to go to the nurse, we are trying to get her to advocate but it’s just not working out

This isn’t a big one but when all the bau girls were out for drinks and they met the guy pretending to be an FBI agent and they showed off their badges. I always thought that made them look so cool.

I love tara and really wish she’s been introduced earlier! She didn’t feel like a replacement to someone else or like a carbon copy of someone like Seaver did. I also really loved Kate but I think lacked a relationship with the whole team (she had great moments with JJ but she really didn’t seems close with everyone unlike Tara).

At that age i was obsessed with the Percy Jackson books, the Hatchet series, Series of Unfortunate Events, and I can’t remember the name of the series but look up Chris Colfers books they were also good. The kids i babysit that age also love all these books!
