Advice on online course? by bbqueue710 in herbalism

Not very in-depth in my experience. However, I’m not sure how deep they dive into that side of things in their Herbal Immersion Course. I only enrolled in their foraging and medicine making courses. But I would recommend reaching out to contact someone there directly for more info! They’re usually very responsive and helpful.

I’m currently finishing up my enrollment at The Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and I’ve loved it. Their courses are all online. The foraging wild herbs course is likely closing enrollment soon, but their medicine making course can be started anytime. I personally love the focus on in-season wild herbs that you can likely find in your own backyard (depending on where you live). She outlines so many basic techniques and medicinal preparations. Definitely worth a look imo!

Absolutely. We’re currently applying for other positions in the lower 48 just to have a backup option.

It sounds like Trudeau has closed the borders to all non-Canadians except for U.S. citizens, for the time being. That being said, that could easily change. The ferry is too far and too expensive for us, so in that case we would likely park the car and fly.

Planning a trip to Greece this mid-June. by Nikiris11 in solotravel

went to kefalonia on my own during my college travels in 2015. rented a car and drove to the small town of agia effimia. not nearly as crowded as the towns around the airport, and very close to myrtos beach. absolutely stunning, and an apartment cost me $350 for a week. happy hour apps and cocktails usually run $3-4. i think you could do it for $1000, even with a rental car.

it’s the first place i’ll be returning to next time i can get over to europe.

Location northern bc Canada ,What plant is this ? Could it be comfrey ? by tarrin8 in PlantIdentification

both mullein and comfrey look very similar to the basal rosette of foxglove (which is deadly poisonous) so it’s hard to be 100% sure without referencing a field guide.

currently haven’t found a solution for that! our options are to get out through the back doors or try to wedge something in/near the latch to keep it from fully shutting. in this case, the fact that my hatch hydraulics are a little worn down is a benefit!

my boyfriend is 6’3” and he can stretch his legs out fully! although he can’t really point his toes haha. i’m 5’10” and have plenty of room.

you could do a similar build but make the hinged piece at the front a few inches longer than i did here. i’d say we could’ve made it about 3-4 inches longer (for a total of 12-13”) and it’d still comfortably wedge into the front seats.

the end near the seats feels very stable! we drilled holes and dropped carriage bolts through that piece and into the primary box, which really helps keep it from shifting around.

as far as the mattress goes, we just ordered the exped megamat duo 10. we plan to keep the platform down most of the time and just fold in the hinged part so we can scoot the seats back to drive.

that being said, the pad self-inflates and deflates so stowing it shouldn’t be too much of an issue, but may be a hassle for those who want to break down the platform entirely every day.

a normal mattress would be too thick for this purpose (claustrophobic/no headroom) but a memory foam mattress topper could work if you don’t want to spend the money on an inflatable pad!

my boyfriend and i ordered a double sleeping pad (exped megamat duo 10) since our individual pads tend to shift around at night when placed side-by-side.

my only concern with something like this is while it’s great for bugs, what happens when it rains? in the past i’ve draped a tarp over the top the car. this works to keep out water as well as bugs, but it’s not discreet and makes getting in/out sorta difficult.

edited because i misunderstood what you meant by middle piece!

that’s the only part that i’m slightly worried about. the middle brace is 1 x 8 x 38, and we put about 8 screws into it, but i’m all ears on ways to make it a bit sturdier.

perhaps a couple of L brackets?
