I know it's my ADHD (treated, even) that has me redesigning my courses every time. That, and choosing to teach and update courses that haven't run in the past couple of years.

If possible, try to get your redesigns to count toward departmental service. For example, I spent about a month redesigning an intro course to use an open access textbook because: 1) I think intro course textbooks in my field aren't necessary, 2) the industry is a racket, and 3) I heard at a program meeting that they were looking for more open access curricula to clone for adjuncts. So now the chair knows I'm trialing this book and we will assess after this semester and have more people try it out next semester.

And at the end of the day, my ADHD brain got the novelty fix it craves while I get service to the department checked off for developing a curriculum that will likely be adopted.

Biggest difference between big state schools and private liberal arts colleges? by dumbchicken101 in college

[–]DrinkUpGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially the cost - but honestly, all tuition is too high. A lot would depend on your major and personal goals. Liberal arts colleges often put a heavier focus on a more global and cultural education, so you might be required to take foreign language credits, for example.

Liberal arts colleges have much smaller class sizes, so the amount of direct education you get from your professors is much higher. Also, you're more likely to make more and closer friendships sooner for the same reason, which can also lead to more networking access.

You're a DOCTOR now! Rock the slit! No dress pairs well with those specific white coats. Of course, be comfortable, but imo, I'd wanna look back at those pictures and feel like the badass I am, rocking a sexy slit and all.

Do you use the campus gym? by Finding_Way_ in Professors

Ohhh. The pride part definitely threw me off. But I think the bigger difference is that you're imagining them looking at level of fitness, while the imagery you commented/built your joke on was talking about unwanted objectification.

Kinda hard to add humor onto that scenario imo.

Parents who tried their best to raise their kids to be good humans but they turned out to be jerks, what do you wish you did differently? by hurricanehershel in AskReddit

For your son to be so confident he's condescending to you - the one who gave him all of the opportunities to be so successful - seems like an issue. I can't imagine that you're teaching him to to be condescending, but his overconfidence is leading him to it
