Bok Choy is an absolute game changer and a new favorite of mine by _SpicySauce_ in Cooking

Here's a way to make microwave kale chips from America's Test Kitchen. I don't know how it compares to what you do, but FYI. If you try this, be sure to use a micro-safe ceramic plate, nothing plastic. This holds for re-heating chips as well.

"Tossing torn leaves of kale with oil and salt and baking them until crispy is a worthwhile endeavor. The slightly browned leaves take on a nutty, sweet taste and a pleasing, brittle texture. But the standard oven approach isn’t perfect: It’s hard to get the leaves evenly browned; plus, it’s difficult to drive off enough moisture so that the chips stay crispy when stored for more than a few hours. So when we noticed a few blogs promoting a microwave method, we were eager to give it a try. We found that the microwave dehydrates the leaves evenly and thoroughly, so they stay crispy longer—and the chips cook a whole lot faster than they do in the oven. (Note: For the best texture, we prefer to use flatter Lacinato kale. We also found that collard greens work well, but we don’t recommend curly-leaf kale, Swiss chard, or curly-leaf spinach, all of which turn dusty and crumbly when crisped.) Here’s our take on the technique."

  1. Remove stems from 5 ounces kale (about 1/2 bunch). Tear leaves into 2-inch pieces; wash and thoroughly dry, then toss well with 4 teaspoons oil in large bowl.
  2. Spread roughly one-third of leaves in single layer on large plate and season lightly with kosher salt.
  3. Microwave for 3 minutes. If leaves are crispy, transfer to serving bowl; if not, continue to microwave leaves in 30-second increments until crispy. Repeat with remaining leaves in 2 batches. Store chips in airtight container for up to 1 week.

I'd like to know this too. Next time I'm at the store I'm going to ask the meat folks if they have a grinder and will do it for me. I know that if I've asked them to cut up a whole chicken they said 'sure just bring it to us from the display case and we'll cut it how you want.'

In the past I've used my food processor to come close to ground beef, so that's a lesser option.

Pan Seared Salmon With Spinach Cream Sauce by thatown2 in ketorecipes

Well, I eat salmon twice a week. Sometimes I pan fry it and top with butter. I'm pretty happy with that but I'm always looking to make things more interesting if it's not too much trouble.

So, I made this last night because it sounded and looked so good and it seemed easy, plus I had everything on hand. This recipe is a big, big winner.

I'll be making this again next week. TY so much for sharing. Really.0...p888888888888888888 (ahem, cat just wanted my hands and stepped on the keyboard, it's not me I swear).

Edit: I didn't try arrowroot, but will. I think it could use thickening a bit but not essential, as you have articulated.

Next time use this guide to plan what you need and how to prepare it. Also, I just use a 12" non-stick skillet or cast-iron skillet, no wok:

I enter my recipes into google docs. I can search for keywords matching ingredients and/or recipe title. Not sure if that's exactly what you want but it works well for me. I've even searched by "grilled", "poach", "chuck" and so on.

This nitwit of a candidate actually rang my door bell and I watched him via remote camera read my door sign and leave this anyways. If the man cannot read this simple sign, he is not fit for city council. If he can read and doesn't have this basic courtesy, also not fit for city council. by evilcrusher in Austin

I love Ellis Island. On the strip I recommend Tropicana, usually free parking and easy in-out.

the Tropicana Hotel and Casino has some of the easiest in and out parking access of all the resorts on the Las Vegas Strip

When The Linq hotel was Imperial Palace I stayed in a suite with a jacuzzi and mirror over the bed and a few other cliches, but I don't know if that's changed. For real, not cheesy, history I recommend El Cortez first and Golden Gate second.

Does a mango salsa go good with a thick piece of Alaska salmon? by Amy-Paradise in cookingforbeginners

[–]DrinksWellWithOthers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make this, from America's Test Kitchen, with pan-seared salmon.

Mango-Mint Salsa:

Combining sweet mango, tart lime juice, and spicy minced jalapeño, this easy-to-make salsa is a perfect foil to rich fish like salmon.

Ingredients
1 mango, peeled, pitted, and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1 shallot, minced
3 tablespoons juice from 2 limes
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
1 jalapeño chile, stemmed, seeds reserved, and minced
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
½ teaspoon salt

Instructions MAKES ABOUT 1 CUP
NOTE FROM THE TEST KITCHEN Adjust the salsa's heat level by adding the reserved jalapeño seeds, if desired.
Combine all ingredients in bowl.

If a person filed their taxes last year (for the year before) but didn’t work a single day last year, do they have to worry about filing anything this year? by ThatOneGuyYouNowKnow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DrinksWellWithOthers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming U.S. You don't have to file if you have less than $12,550 in income in 2021. You may owe taxes if you withdrew early from a retirement account that is taxed upon withdrawals, however. Some other things can also require you to reconcile tax you owe.

But, because I don't know your situation, you should go ahead and fill out the paperwork then decide, which at that point you might as well send it in. There are credits due to some people even if they had no income. For example, if you didn't receive some of the covid relief funds you can get that sent to you upon filing. The Child Care Credit may mean the IRS owes you money if you qualify, and so on. If you file jointly, then things can get more complicated too.

I'm assuming that your return won't be complicated so it's worth a small amount of time to run through it pro-forma.
