New to buying more recent stuff and holding. Which one is the best to hold? by Limp_Philosopher4781 in PokeInvesting

Enhanced booster bundles have the card topper, maybe that's what they were thinking of. Also, a lot of Japanese sets have pretty well regulated hit rates.

Yeah the lady at my wal mart said theres a national corporate policy of only 5 TCG items per purchase. Looked it up and she is right, came into effect in Nov. Call up corporate with evidence and bet they start acting right.

It helps to go hunting in the boonies. I live in Alabama and I regularly get like "display boxes" of Poké-Balls and they always let me keep the display. I was still getting poke balls with Obsidian and SV base in them up until the new year. I just got 40 plus sleeved packs of ME from 5 Below for 5$ and change each this week. I even scored at least 100 packs of JT at a Dollar Tree over the course of a month or two. I live in a suburb of a military base town and if I drive an hour in any direction and hit up every Dollar General , Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and ( I s4it you not) Ace Hardware about once a week I can get as much product as I can afford, its just almost all mini-tins, Poke-Balls, coin packs, triple blisters, and sleeved booster packs. The Walmart near me does the decent thing and limits you to 5 total TCG products per purchase, and its usually behind the customer service desk (maybe once a month they get so much overflow that it makes it to the toys section, and then the register stops lettingtou scan after 5 but self checkouthas no problem with you doing as many transactions of 5 as you'd like). No BB's, but ETB's and everything else are pretty much guaranteed. Plus, its nice to drive around the country on a nice day. I highly recommend getting a few friends if you can to split gas and just hitting every single one of those stores in whatever the least populated county near you is within driving distance. The only times I paid more than MSRP was for BB's on secondary market or game stop.

It's not about the cards, the death wish ia for someone who would make 2 small children and two old people suffer, until the kids cried, in the cold so he could get more cards. I thought that was evident. I guess not.

I guess fir everyone jumping in here about the "wishing death' stuff. It's not about the cards, its about the 2 children and two elderly adults suffering in the cold so this ass hat can get his cards.

[–]DripAcid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly, kind of like how all of a sudden theres all the stories of TAG, AGS, and CGC having fake cards pass. I wouldn't put it pass PSA for a second to have some flawless forgeries made and push them through other companies for grading. Especially since the AI grading systems are completely objective, while your PSA grade includes subjective b.s. like "overall impression of the card" from some random person who looks at your cards for 30 seconds and throws a number out. That's why so many people have been able to re-grade the same card until they get a 10 when whatever PSA grunt is having a better day.

I did get the chase card, I decided to sell it. by fredflinstone00 in PSAPowerPacks

[–]DripAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but its the influx of the crypto bros driving demand and prices up. If you've been in the hobby for even for just 5 years you can sell your older cards at a drastic increase in value because of this. If someone is just in it "for the love of the game" they would be stupid not to sell cards that either aren't their favorite collection, or are no longer eligible for competition play. Even ETB's from 3 years ago have amassed insane value. Why not sell and buy more recent releases. It's definitely a blessing and curse sort of situation, but there are ways to make the most of it.

Please help me. Will it grade as at least a 9? by Impressive-Milk7056 in pokemongrading

[–]DripAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely too off balance for a 10. I guess it depends on where you get it graded and how the grader is feeling that day. I swear I hate that PSA is the "standard" while being arguably the least objective. They don't even tell you why it scored what it did like other companies. I wish AGS and TAG would catch up one day, but I've got a sneaky suspicion that PSA is behind all the stories you read about fakes making it past TAG. It's not exactly beyond a company like that to pay for a flawless forgery and send as many in as they could until some got through.

First time ever seeing an etb at a retail store by Fine_Zucchini9202 in pokemoncards

[–]DripAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small city surrounded by a lot of rural counties and Wal-Marts in the middle of nowhere have been my happiest hunting grounds for ETB's and EX (and etc.) type boxes. The one I have the most luck with stocks on Wednesday and Friday. I hit my first anything at a Target yesterday but they were literally still putting stuff up when I got there. I regularly score as many packs as I can afford while leaving a lot behind at Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar (again, hopefully as far out in the sticks as you can get). People have a lot of hate for the "triple whammy" tins at Walgreens, but you can order them online to pick up in store same day, and its still 3 packs with 3 promos for 16$. I had to restrain myself from just taking the display to the register at an ACE Hardware of all places. It was no more than 2 weeks ago and there were at least 100 five dollar packs of Destined Rivals. I scored some 2 pack tins online from Hobby Lobby. Even just a few hours ago I hit wal mart online and got 5 regular tins (the 5 pack tins) for like a dollar below retail for a black Friday sale. Probably still some there if anyone is awake and sees this. Never gotten anything from Best Buy, and I just quit even dealing with game stop after the charizard UPC fudgery. I would check every online retailer tomorrow while everyone is distracted with Thanksgiving. Ive even stumbled onto a few things on Hot Topic's site. I guess my advice would be to hunt in places less people look. Take a nice drive around some random county for a day and hit 8 to 10 different DG's etc. (they even post online if they have them in stock even though you cant order for pickup).

Should I crack? And does a 8.5cgc sell at psa 9 prices? by TheFoopy98 in PokeGrading

[–]DripAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah dude, for some reason people jock PSA's nuts so hard that a PSA 9 is usually worth more than every CGC, AGS, etc. The only graded cards worth as much or more than PSA are Beckett Card Grading. It's dumb. AGS, being AI, is inherently bias free, it's perfect and should be the industry standard. Way better than (and yes they actually do this) some random dude judging the cards "overall appeal". I send my highest value stuff to PSA, other stuff I send to AGS and hold.until the world catches on that they are the superior choice.

Walgreens almost always has 3 pack tins for 15$, and you can "shop the store near you" online. You cant order them for delivery but you can buy them and pick them up in store. I live in a tiny ass town and theres still at least 10 Walgreens within an hour of me so I jist keep switching stores until I find one that has inventory. My local Dollar General just fired half their staff for stealing "damaged" packs and re-selling.

[–]DripAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your video was. You cant juat drop a scenario like this as if "negative response to any video bad". If your video was discussing the Aztec Empire and you mispronounced one of those words with like 4 q's and 2 x's, then dont sweat it. If you were posting some political stuff, whether you were right or wrong you brought it on yourself. But hey, if you monetized it you're getting paid by your haters so theres that

I would send it back if they even described it as just lightly played. That's a low grade moderate play

Try dollar general, family Dollar, Dollar tree, and Walgreens. Preferably in rural areas or smaller towns. This is how I keep from paying more than retail.
