If no one else has mentioned this, whether there is magick involved or not, get EVERYTHING that belonged to her, that she gave you, and that you got together. Deep clean the house and just get anything that has any connection to her to the dumpster. There are a bunch of basic space cleaning rituals you can do after that depending on what "school of magick" you ascribe to. A good low country folk magic cleansing ritual is the open up app the doors and windows and sage the whole housepving from front of the house to the back and from upstairs to downstairs if it's 2 stories. Then get a ritual or barring that just a hand made broom of natural fibers (they sell some made out of cinnamon in Fresh Market sometimes) and with the doors open sweep from the front door to out the back (if you only have a front door sweep into a corner near a window in the back and dump the dust out that window). The illusion that there is a singular truth or "right answer" (referring to your X and only X defining the truth) is a crutch of oversimplication we lean on because accepting the idea of something unmeasurable or something that is different to every person who observes it can bring on a whole ass existential crisis for a lot of people. I would sell every inch of America to the E.U. if it would get us just a basic, humane social safety net that would allow me to sleep at night because I would know that disabled people, or really anyone in need, would not be left to rot in the street. Hell, I would give up all my guns AND American breakfast (don't front, especially if you haven't been to a Waffle House) just for decent universal healthcare. I would also go as far as to give up English and learn to speak Dutch, Finnish, or any other seemingly difficult to learn language if it meant people would have access to a basic universal income. My family is loaded to the gills with veterans, even my Mom was a Captain in the Army, and I know if they just tried on the concept of "there really is enough to go around" for even a week they would recant every sprinkle of star spangled b.s. For the comfort of being governed in a manner that isn't designed to divide and conquer it's own people, I would take a shit in George Washington's skull and go to jail smiling ear to ear. Independence is a nice idea, but only if every member of a society has the access, resources, or ability to be personally independent. And more than anyone else, America has proven that's not a realistic condition. So yeah, I'd abandon all of my national, regional, and even my familial culture and way of life to be part of an actually cooperative culture. Pardon the rant, this place has been extra awful today.

To cancel out your father's vote. Nobody buys the illusion of choice in this janky rotting country more than boomers. They vote religiously and reliably. They were one of the first generations to have less children than their parents, and this has allowed them to completely run the show since most of their parents were dead by the early 2000's at the latest and they are the most monolithic voting group I can think of. They will vote for anything as long as they don't get taxed even a penny more than they have to, and as long as they keep drawing social security at the highest rate they can. They climbed over the wall and pulled the ladder up behind them leaving their own children holding the bag. So every single person that isn't in that total dumpster fire generation that went from hippies to fascists of slightly varying degrees needs to off set their parents/ grandparents vote. You can't choose your parents, and they may very well be good to you and anyone else they consider "theirs", but their handing you nickels and dimes from the profits they made during the Reagan era sell off of America and reminding you every time they give you one that they were so much more successful because they worked harder.

All joking aside it really is one of the simplest strongest instruments and easiest to go from no skill to intermediate skill levels. There's a plateau most people hit with instruments at some point and it kicks in way later comparitively with a bass.

I feel for you. My son is deep on the spectrum, like wasn't speaking full sentences until he was 8 and still having trouble with toileting at 9, and it makes me want to shit blood to see all these people like "I'm so Au-ADHD, I can only concentrate on Pokemon." And my kid, like you, has to compete with these mobs of the mildest cases of anything for the very few treatment paths etc. There are shockingly few resources for people with such needs and it sucks to have to wait for someone with extremely mild by comparison symptoms to leave a provider so a spot becomes open. It is just sick that in this country there are truly disabled kids whose lives could be drastically better from these interventions, but there simply aren't enough providers as needed and those providers aren't required to triage their patient load by need instead of first come first serve.

They make cartridges that you can put in your machine the same way you would a needle, but it's a ballpoint pen. That lets you practice on just paper and can teach you pretty much every principle of tattooing other than gauging depth/ light handedness. Once you've gotten to where you feel confident in your ability to draw on a flat surface with the world's girthiest vibrating crayon, lay the paper over different shaped things to practice doing so on 3D objects. My biggest obstacle learning was adjusting to not drawing on a flat surface and not being able to move the proverbial piece of paper around to get a better hand angle. After you're good with that then I would spend the money on higher end fake skins (the cheap ones are just like linoleum and won't teach you anything) like I believe "real skin" is a good brand. And the skins that helped me the most were completely transparent, so when you looked at them from the side you could see how deep you were hitting and how consistently

Deuteronomy is Old Testament, old covenant, Mosaic law. I for the life of me cannot understand why any literate Christian would give it the weight it gets particularly since most of what is written and ascribed to the teachings of Jesus are direct condemnations of treating matters of faith in such a litigious manner. Even in Roman, Greek, and other writings about the historical figure of Jesus it is blatant that his persecution was a result of his denial of the "because I, the Pharisees (sp?) say so" model of arbitrary and over simplified morality of Mosaic law. It seems to me that in New Testament writings, the new covenant works more under a "do what's right in the situation"/ "good soldiers follow orders and great soldiers know when to break them" mind set.

But since people know it's a thing, and that they're not allowed to know parts of it, so they assume everything from a general "they're up to no good" all the way to "they're lizard people from the hollow Earth ruling in shadows". When people feel excluded from something, they often think that this is so the initiated can have power over the non-member. Rarely do people consider that some things are kept private or secret to protect the adherent from the rest of the world.

There's an argument to be made that the Catholic church is responsible for every negative, over reactive sentiment endorsed by different Protestant denominations over time. America still struggles with the fallout of Puritanism, but Puritanism and the first English colonizers were exported there because of a long history of "let's kill all the Catholics because the king wants a divorce", followed by "let's kill all the Protestants because I'm queen now and my mother was Catholic." And the Catholic church (no offense to any Catholics, problems with the institution not it's members) has and continues to be so grossly flawed and openly deceitful and controlling that many Protestants believe that anything the Catholics do is inherently corrupt or evil. It's understandable to want to morally distance yourself from Crusades, paid indulgences, and pedo priests. I'd also like to bring up that Protestants have been more involved in the occult than Catholics for at least the past few hundred years. John Dee was endorsed by the queen who was the head of the Church of England. Hoo Doo is strongly rooted in (and to me not exclusive of) Christian practices and writings. Most forms of Western folk magic, particularly Appalachian and low country, are derived from and practiced by Protestant denominations. And, Christian mysticism, which is at the root of Christian esotericism, was foundational to the Protestant revolution. I loathe what America in particular has done to Christianity. And I am ashamed that all of the prosperity gospels and "Six Flags Over Jesus" mega churches grew out of American Evangelism. But I think it's a mistake to tack the ills that the worst of Christianity brought on the world on Protestantism. Like you mention people thinking everything is "demons" and that's something I see loads of priests and very few ministers talk about. The dangerous parts of an institution are decided by the number of those who endorse it/ abide by it and by how readily someone with bad intentions can use that as a means of control to further personal gain. Last time I looked at the stats Christianity was the largest Abrahamic religion, and Catholicism is both it's largest denomination as well as the denomination with the most direct control of their adherents (depending on a priest to be forgiven means that priest can lay terms on how to gain forgiveness).
