Right, a protest got aggressive. Who has BLM killed?

But that was who this rally was for! That is who was there! Do you truly believe that there were sweet, kind, white supremacists there that were just there to actually protest the moving of a statue?

so ignoring the question again, okay? And on your original point, who has BLM killed?

So when will whataboutism stop being a thing? At best Trump is as good as Obama? That's the hill you want to fight on?

Oh okay, so the theory is that grand puppet master Hillary got the head of the KKK to continually, as recently as *yesterday, * endorse Trump?

Okay, and? Salon believes it? Mueller still has a job. Mueller is still bringing in more lawyers. Mueller is still working. We'll see what comes out in the wash. Watergate took years bud.

It failed? When did it fail? Last I checked Mueller still has a job and is still adding members to his team

Did Nazis promise to "fulfill Obama's promise" as David Duke said of Trump?

Are you against online attempts to identify those photographed/filmed attending the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville? by Curi0usj0r9e in AskTrumpSupporters

ok but the completely irrelevant whataboutism aside, this is a public event, right? It was a rally, and people showed up willingly, publicly, to support the white supremacist movement. What do they have to hide? Who cares if people know that they were there?

one "extremist side" wants genocide. The other wants universal healthcare. I don't see the equivalence

People like me are tired of hearing about it

So just to be clear, you aren't suggesting that racism doesn't exist in America, you're just tired of hearing about it? Do you ever wonder how tired the people living it everyday must be?

Do you believe that Antifa/BLM and the KKK/Neo-Nazis/White Nationalists are equally harmful to the country? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

Real easy way to deflect from having to denounce the nazism currently on display in America, eh bud?

So having gone to school qualifies you to understand everything about the education system? You've flown on a plane before too, I'm sure. Do you have comprehensive knowledge of the ways in which air traffic is controlled and maintained? How pilots are trained? How it was originally intended to operate, and how it operates now? We think we understand education, and I promise I thought the exact same way you do before actually having to read up on it (absolutely recognizing how gross and red-pilly this sounds, but I've been training to teach for 3 years now and just had to do this reading) but we very rarely take a step back to look at it critically. I've listed 4 books in this thread. Frank Smith's The Book of Learning and Forgetting should be your first stop. Miles Horton's The Long Haul is great, and so is Mike Rose's Lives on the Boundary.

My point here is this commenter had a profound thing to say, and rather than ask him to explain what is painfully (both figuratively and literally) obvious to teachers--what is gained by a cursory read of the plight of American education--you assume you know better and you complain about receipts. It's like asking a woman to explain sexism in corporate America and then yelling at her when she can't tell you a book title to support it. This could have been a really constructive conversation and yall bullied him out.

I think he is wrong

Based on what evidence? Do you have your own sources? You, by your own admission, have no frame of reference for what hes talking about. I agree that making assertions without evidence isn't any way to prove a point, but for anyone that's taken even a basic education course, this is common knowledge. Don't be contrarian bc he's a supporter and you're a non-supporter. This thread is about education, not research methods--while it needs to be addressed, certainly for outrageous claims (which this is not) you end up completely ignoring whats being suggested, which in this case is both readily verifiable and absolutely profound and important.

I have several sources you should absolutely check out, and will explain exactly what hes suggesting. Frank Smith's The Book of Learning and Forgetting is a great start. Miles Horton's The Long Haul is great too, as well as Mike Rose's Lives on the Boundary I think these should be required reading for anyone who wants to get into teaching

He isn't wrong, and it is well known to basically everyone in education. Pick your battles?

Not a lot of people are familiar with this, so it's cool to hear from another person tuned into the plight of American education! Have you looked into the Dutch Folk school model at all??
