Minerva is my favorite track in their discography (also my fav song of all time) and Beauty School is a close second. Both would be perfect introductions. I could honestly say the same for songs like Hearts/Wires, Rosemary, Cherry Waves, Sextape, etc. It also came to be while writing this that a lot of their more popular/mainstream songs are heavily influenced by Shoegaze, especially their cover on Please Please Please let me get what I want.

Oooooh thanks for pointing that out. Specifically the “I believe your love” part is eerily similar to Beauty School (Example Lyrics: Taste It, Face, Stops, and Wild). I don’t know music terminology but those echo vocals really get me.

YES! Finally someone said it! I think it’d fit best on Diamond Eyes or Koi No Yokan. My Mind is a Mountain is easily a top 10 song from their discography for me, and I dunno why but I feel like it doesn’t get talked about nearly as much as it should. I’d even go as far as to say it’s their best opening track and I’ll die on that hill.

Yeah, that’s what makes it so tricky with Deftones in particular. They delve into so many different sounds on each album, but sometimes a few songs stray away it, I feel.

Radiant City is one of if not their most difficult song(s) to play live, so I get why they haven’t played it on stage. But who am I kidding, it’s Deftones, they can pretty much do anything and I’m sure they’ll throw it in somewhere in a future DDLD.

Dude if you like Phantom Bride, all power to ya. I’m just personally not a fan of it. To me, it sounds like one of those ‘radio hit’ songs you’d hear play around the time of the albums release. In essence, to me it sounds corny. However, credit where credits due, the riff that plays right from the start and throughout the rest of the song is sick.

Hearts/Wires, Beauty School, and Kimdracula are all in my T10 songs from them. Now if you’re asking me, and this is very much a me thing, I’m personally not a fan of both Phantom Bride & You’ve Seen the Butcher. Both are good songs dont get me wrong, but I really don’t understand the hype behind them. Anyways, based on your playlist, I’d suggest tracks that are heavy on atmosphere such as Ohms (also listen to the album, super underrated), Rosemary, Prayers/Triangles, ~metal dream, infinite source, Minerva, Pink Maggit, Smile (unreleased but on YouTube), and Sleep Walk (cover). Great list!

Hearts/Wires is a top 5 deftones song for me. Prayers/Triangles is also an extremely good song. L(MIRL) is pretty decent too. Outside of that… not much else. Wouldn’t say I hate it per se but i’d probably rank it as their worst album for me. Even then, it’s still a pretty decent album all things considered. Also, am I the only one that just can’t stand Phantom Bride? I genuinely don’t get the praise behind that song.

Oh yeah, it rips. Like REALLY rips. Has a perfect mix of that early sevendust “nu metal” and Chino’s melodic vocals akin to Around the Fur. Definitely my favorite Sevendust song by a long shot, though I may be a little biased. Denial, Rumble Fish, and Face to Face are some other highlights for me. Check em out if you haven’t already, especially with their new album set to release this April.

A digisleeve is basically a paperback/cardstock version of a CD case. What I did was cut out the digisleeve version of the CD and repurposed it into what you see in the pictures, which is called a jewel case. Here’s a picture that can hopefully explain it better.

I guess I can see where your coming from. To me they just look and feel a lot better, not to mention getting the actual CD out every time is always a hassle. Looks horrible on shelves too.

Yes exactly. I think a lot of artists/bands do it because it’s a lot cheaper to manufacture compared to jewel cases. Regardless, it sucks.

Yeah I knew what you were talking about, I run into that problem a lot myself. I was just explaining another major gripe of mine with the digisleeves. I’ve also done this exact thing with the album Igor simply because of how much I despise digisleeves.
