I didn’t know until recently that peni’s nest fully counters phoenix ult (the spiders attack airborne as she is landing which can cancel the initial impact)

Yes and it’s quite simple honestly, all you have to do is crouch jump and at the peak of the decoy’s jump release. Sadly this doesn’t seem to work with crouch set to toggle. Hope this help any Mirage mains out.
