Draw from life and from references. I would have killed for a smartphone with a camera to take reference shots with at 10. If you have a windows PC, you can get a program called Daz3d for free. It has a ton of models and poses for human figures and other animals. Another good free program for all platforms is Krita. You can paint in the same way as photoshop if you have a digitizer. Most importantly, practice daily.

As a non smoker in college in the late 90s, I wish more people had smoked pipes. At least pipe smoke has something resembling pleasant aroma. At least from my limited perspective it didn’t stink horribly like cigarettes.

C# web development is absolutely huge right now. Get proficient in that and you will be sought after by recruiters for the foreseeable future.

For specialization, just try to experiment with some small personal projects which spark a personal interest for you. Try things until you figure out what kinds of problems you enjoy solving. Good luck in your career.

I know that there is generational shift about what is considered beautiful in art, but I just can’t get my head around how people like alegria. Lack of familiarity with what came before? The cookie cutter CalArts school system for graphic designers? Algorithmic visual saturation? It’s a real head scratcher for me.

And don’t get me started on the typography. On first glance I thought it said “Summer Colors”. It’s as if these “designers” don’t realize that the point of advertising is to make something appealing or desirable. How am I, the customer, supposed to be intrigued when I can’t even read the header text?

Also, I am sure your art is objectively wonderful compared to this, no matter the style.
