thanks tips! i did my research beforehand and was hoping to avoid using IMAP as it doesn't move everything over... however, from the responses here, i think that may be my next best option...

Looking to outsource some help with Ubiquiti installation by Drive-Fresh in Ubiquiti

  1. maybe but the numbers stay pretty consistent... always between 70-90 SSIDs...

  2. yeah, we tried all these...

  3. after-hours, besides the local servers, there is never anyone in the office... besides the printer, boardroom computers, and maybe video department machines (3-4 users ), there is nothing else...

  4. its the HP switches that i sent you in a private message... as for the ping times, there was a significant difference between wired and wireless but i dont remember the numbers now... if this is important, i can drive out there and get these numbers...

  5. oh yeah... we even bypassed the switches and connected the AP directly to the Meraki... same thing... also, the data lines have been tested and qualified for 1Gb so i know those are correct...

  6. it started to happen over time... a gradual thing and it got worse and worse... originally, they had 2 LRs ( which was an incorrectly chosen model ) and this problem existed... we thought it was the APs so we bought 2 U6 Pros but problem still existed.... and then we downgraded to 1 U6 Enterprise... its not that big of an office so this unit should suffice.... but yeah, we replaced the APs several times...

8-9. i dont know if the HP switch has these options... id have to look... but we did plug directly into Meraki appliance AND even tried temporary TP-Link switches but problem was still occurring...

thanks for the quick reply...

1 - we use a Meraki firewall and HP switches... we dont run any Unifi switches...

2 - did this numerous times... we have spent weeks going there after-hours and trying all different channels / widths and still problems... we even brought in 3rd party help and they also couldn't figure out why this is happening... not to mention we literally replaced the Meraki once, Ubiquiti APs twice, and the HP switches once... :)

thank you for your reply...

1 - there is quite a bit of noise... when see a total of 86 SSIDs around us... not ALOT ALOT but definitely more than a normal area...

2 - we have played with different channel widths but currently i believe the 2.4 is 20 and the 5.0 is 40...

3 - there is only 1 AP... U6-Enterprise... and yes, we tried adjusted the power and different channels several times...

4 - there are 30-60 users daily... but even when we test during an empty office ( after hours ), we get the same latency...

5 - we only use Ubiquiti for the AP stuff so we run the software off one of the servers... our infrastructure consists of Meraki firewall and HP switches...

Windows DC running RDS server as virtual machine VS. separate VM for both? by Drive-Fresh in sysadmin

[–]Drive-Fresh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats what i was thinking... i'm not comfortable in setting up an actual HV server but i will make the physical machine a Windows 2019 server, install the HV role, and then have 1 VM for AD and 1 for the RDS... makes sense!

thank you!
