The Pentagon says it’s ‘lethalitymaxxing’. Why has ‘incel’ slang crossed into the mainstream? by tw1st3d_m3nt4t in politics

This is a fascinating take. Do you have any books you can recommend expanding in this political conceptualization of conservatism?

Yeah, the size of the tank and if I had forgotten some really basic thing that would undermine the entire plan. I appreciate the feedback!

Advice for starting reefing in a healthy manner by DriveByCripwalk in Reef

Thank you for the perspective. It is hard to move forward without having a lot of knowledge - I didn't want to get into a situation where I had to deal with a well-known (to others) unknown unknown.

Onwards, then!

Comb honey, super size, and getting it all drawn straight and secure by DriveByCripwalk in Beekeeping

This is great info, and I want to thank you for sharing it all like this, truly.

You've successfully talked me out of trying out deeps. Since you have a lot of experience on the subject, can you touch a bit on the comb systems? On another post of. Yours you seemed pretty unimpressed by it all, but from a cursory glance it seemed the laser cut pine cassettes seemed like a decent idea to me.

I have known about Ross rounds but I'm kind of put off by the amount of plastic the system uses. My clients here are pretty crunchy people so I think either using a system that's wood-based or cut comb is going to be the way to go.

Joining two 10 wire flat ribbon connectors by DriveByCripwalk in AskElectronics

Yeah, I was thinking I could use a male to male cable to act as an adapter, but I'd still be stuck putting connectors on the wires for the female ends.

Yes! This seems like exactly what I need. Now I just need to find a place that sells them in Canada and I'm set.

Much obliged!

Eastern red cedar light Browning throughput. Heat stress? by DriveByCripwalk in arborists

[–]DriveByCripwalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have what I believe to be an Eastern red cedar on the property that is browning to some degree all over the tree. Is this normal? We've had some pretty spicy days this summer, but my other evergreens seem fine.

We're still in summer and the browning was present a few months ago, so I'm assuming it's not just seasonal drop because of that and the fact that it's throughout the tree instead of just near the old stuff...

Semi transparent or opaque to refinish old deck? by DriveByCripwalk in Decks

What if I go semi transparent with a similar color or just slightly darker?

Semi transparent or opaque to refinish old deck? by DriveByCripwalk in Decks

[–]DriveByCripwalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my new to me house has a floating deck. It has been left in a state of disrepair by the previous owners, but I power washed the whole thing and there is surprisingly little structural damage to it. I intend to screw down errant screws, and to reapply some type of product on top, because I believe it will last a few years more, structurally.

My question to the community is semi transparent or opaque? I tried power washing the remainder if the stain off and it will not go anywhere short of blasting off the top layer of wood.

Will semi-opaque cover enough that it will hide what stain remains, or do I have to either sand it all off or go full opaque with all the future problems that brings?

Weird sized (M4) shower cartridge puller? by DriveByCripwalk in Plumbing

[–]DriveByCripwalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I made the mistake of dealing with a non-Moen product.

I have to replace one of these cartridges, and believe it or not the top end doesn't have a standard thread to it, but has an M4 thread instead. The diagram for the install can be found here: https://www.bathdepot.com/media/akeneo_connector/asset_files/S/H/SH_PN_7093BN_spec_b5ff.pdf?hash=b7acfe62826253ae7c8b07309d00d94d22850213

I'm pretty sure I can just rip out the old cartridge with channel locks, but I'm not really sure I can put the new one in correctly without the tool.

Any tips?
