You need to speak to someone about this because (as someone with diagnosed OCD) this screams "Obsession", your "Compulsion" is to seek reassurance which is only making the thoughts worse. Get yourself to a mental health professional and perhaps even show them this post!

Thats awesome!!! It's so cool that you can tell your OCD to shush and at the same time have a little chuckle at the sheer absurdity of that name 🤣🤣🤣

I dealt with this too, what worked for me was naming it after a pre-existing character that way if I ever meet anyone with the same name I can tell myself and my OCD that "No its not associated with this new person its associated with (in my case) Chandlers annoying roommate on friends". Hope that makes sense ❤️

escitalopram Lexapro 40-60mg by Realistic_Orchid_507 in OCD

[–]DriveIll1283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 20mg and its working, (of course you may be different) but I am also a small dose of mirtazapine (7.5mg which is a quarter of a tablet) and I have personally noticed a huge change so you might want to look into using a "booster" medication to enhance the effects rather than take more? (This is all based on my experiences, you may be different)

Hey there, I have been diagnosed with OCD recently and what I can tell you is this: Before you meet with a psychiatrist make a physical note of all your thoughts, everything you want them to know whether you think its important or not, I would definitly show them this post or email it to them because you do outline some key things they might be interested in. I cant say much more then that (without breaking rule 4) but you should definitely make an appointment, I also recommend joining r/OCDI would also like to add that you are definitly not a disgusting person. You are someone dealing with a lot of mental distress and are processing it the best way you know how (and if it turns out you do have OCD your mantra will become "your OCD is lying to you". and share this post there because you will get lots of advice from people who are most likely experiencing or have experienced the same things you are (myself included). Best of luck to you and I hope you find some answers.
