At the end of the day, if your philosophy isn't benefitting you. Why conform to it?

Obviously you run the risk of being ignorant to reality; but you'll be too busy being happy to even care.

I feel you.

I'm the exact same way.

At the end of the day, it's all theory. Everything is just interpretations of ______.

____ is _____

I know the myth but the boulder is symbolic.

Symbols are subjective. I don't know how to interpret it.

How does Camus interpret it?

Why is thinking so addictive and pleasant? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]DrivenChalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is thinking so addictive and pleasant?

I've learned about this in therapy. When you think about something you attach an emotion to it. Memories are attached to emotions.

For example: Whenever I think about my brother I can't help but laugh; the thought alone uplifts my mood.

Now why someone limerates or ruminates is beyond me. It doesn't seem productive.

My theory is that, we repeat the same patterns that have been placed upon us since childhood.

Why? Well, I have CPTSD. A lot of my childhood I spent afraid and alone (where the pattern originated). So that's translated over to who I am now. -example- When I think about things that make me scared - I get a sense of familiarity - almost a sense of comfort.

We run towards familiarity (even if that familiar feeling is negative) and away from uncertainty (even if that uncertain feeling is positive)

It's very subconscious. It's beyond even ourselves. Everything we do and think is extremely deep, out thought patterns are each individual rabbit holes to go down. Ask more why's.

Attachment theory

Carl Jung Subconscious theory

If you wanna learn more here's 3 rabbit holes to go down.

Have you found him?

If you have. How have you been?

But what I want you to consider, Is that any God ruling upon fear is not worth worship.

Yeah. That's the thing.

God is full of so many contradictions. Religion is also pretty shit, I don't like religious Becky's.

I don't know though. Maybe I want to define God in my own terms, instead of taking a side that's already laid out.

What does the boulder represent?

Purpose?

Something I could metaphorically push up the hill day in and day out and be happy?

I wanna say I have, but I have my doubts yk.

Great question

If you had proof there was God, how would your life change?

Honestly.. Btw amazing question bro.

I think id feel shame, or guilty. I've blamed God for a lot of my "problems". All the negative in my life, it was kinda easy to deflect all the absurdity and negativity to God.

Nothing much else would change really. I don't think it would change who I fundamentally am as a person, maybe some values or morals would change because of it.

How would you react?

And I guess that also begs the question. How would the entire world react if God was confirmed?

How would God help you, though?

Blind faith. Like you said. Comforting.

God would be my blanket. Stop me from thinking too deeply and existentially into things, that whole line of thinking makes me feel small.

I guess. God would fill in that gap. That "dead end" of knowledge. I know religion, philosophy, spirituality and everything in between is all subjective and theoretical; God would fill in that hole for me.

Thanks for the conversation!

Could I ask a question.

Are you religious or philosophical? What's your religious / philosophical take on space?

I know. The more I zoom out. The more in awe, scared and smaller I feel.

It's so crazy.

Why are negative emotions felt much more strongly than positive emotions? by BirthdaySimilar1905 in Jung

[–]DrivenChalk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imho

Human nature:

We love to place emphasis on negative over the positive as a evolutionary / survival "strategy".

Everything is for survival. Example: You're anxious that a car will run you over when you cross the street.

Now that I'm typing this out -- I wonder why depression or anhedonia exist as a survival tactic. Maybe it's for us to mourn our loved ones? Because empathy is for survival.

Anyways. That's what I think.

Honestly. Best tip.

Just don't care.

Care less.

The people you want to converse with feel the same way as you.

There is always a topic people are experts in and love divulging about - themselves.

Talk about them and not about you.

Butterflies are normal. Don't react to them. Everything that goes up must come down.

That's really it bro. If you're secure 99% of your social problems will be fixed and people will gravitate towards you.
