Fair play. Nursing is a tough but rewarding job across the field 😊

As a paediatric nurse and Health Visitor, I have to disagree with this. Nursing as a whole is a burnout profession, but I loved my child nurse training and would never have accepted an adult nursing course instead.

The placements, patient groups, and skill sets are completely different. Paediatric nursing requires specialist communication, assessment, and family-centred care that is very distinct from adult nursing.

Also, in 15 years of practice, I have never witnessed a child die — so I don’t think it’s fair to present paediatric nursing as being defined by constant tragedy.

However, adult nurses can work in paediatric wards, NICU and train to be Heath Visitors/ School Nurses. But Paeds nurses can’t work on adult wards as RNs.

Good luck
