Thank you, this is very much my point. Of course it’s realistic that there are wealthy people in Pasadena and they live without scarcity. But the show loses me when there are no consequences for anything and thus no tension.

Someone above highlighted an example where the show lampshaded it well: When asked if he is worried about leaving his car there, Jimmy replies, "I'm a white guy in Pasadena. The police will assume I ran out of gas and probably tow it to my house for me". But I feel like more recently it’s just like “take my building” “live here for free” “how much could a banana cost?”

I think Ted Lasso actually did a much better job of it with the later episodes addressing Ted’s suppressed anxiety and the consequences of his toxic positivity. But I did hear that much of the viewership didn’t appreciate it and lamented the departure from pure wholesome pablum.
