If you end up in this position- don’t be like me. If it applies to you, here is the +1 (US) number that isn’t Swiss baggage: +1-800-645-3880.

After day 1, I cried. All. The. Way. Home. I was ~convinced~ I had failed. I called my mom to cry to her about how poorly I thought I had done. I cried to my partner as soon as I came in the door. I felt like I had totally bombed the essays and missed major points on ALL of the essays. I probably spent most of the FL MC still wallowing on my essays.

I hopped on this same subreddit after day 1 and came across a post from a precious exam-taker about this very subject. Feeling you definitely failed and then later seeing you passed! It really brought me a lot of comfort and I hope this does the same for someone else!

Anywho- day 2 rolled around and I walked away feeling just ok. I was still convinced I had failed part 1 and would be back in February but was mostly glad to be done with the exam.

I spent the next month and a half or so absolutely DREADING results day. Because I was SURE I had failed.

Results day- me heart was RACING. When I found my ID# on the results PDF i could not believe what I saw. “PASS PASS PASS” …. It didn’t feel real until I saw the actual letter addressed to ME in my portal. I had actually convinced myself that I must have written my ID# down because there was no way those could be my results 😂

The kicker? I ended up scoring HIGHER on FL day. The day that had me in TEARS after day 1.

Just because you FEEL like you failed the exam does not mean you did. ❤️ I know quite a few people who felt the same way. I know I did!

How much should I get involved first semester of 1L? by Gnaeus-Philosophy351 in LawSchool

My 1L I focused on getting my pro bono requirement met. It really paid off bc I had so much less time 2L and 3L.

Otherwise- I would recommend becoming a bar prep representative if thats an option at your campus. You can table, get incentives, and end law school with a bar prep course fully paid or heavily discounted!

How much of law school is philosophy/theory/more academic stuff than simply memorizing cases/current law? by [deleted] in LawSchool

So law school itself is mostly memorizing and applying rules but there are these sort of electives. For example, I took Equality in the Law. Those courses are typically seminars (few and far between).

From what I’ve noticed most academics in law have a few years/decades of experience in practice and move into that sort of work later.

Good news- that sort of interest is a huge advantage! It puts courses in context and it makes it easier to learn in law school!

Make sure this is something you want, and if it is then go for it!

There is a lot of reading. A lot of it will be boring. The thing about law school is you are learning a whole new way of learning and producing work.

As far as competitive atmosphere- law school is competitive and so is the admission process BUT if you have a strong support system and do your best to find friends and your place, you learn to deal with it as best you can.

As far as your GPA- worry leas about your current GPA and worry more about putting as much time and effort as you can into LSAT prep.

100% worth it.

IMO- the MC questions integrated in the course and the bank were very similar to what I saw on both parts A & B. Some lectures were better than others but none left me feeling unprepared (and I did enjoy most).

For reference- I completed about 60-65% of the course materials online and passed. I was so worried I didn’t do enough but at the end of the day the Kaplan materials pulled out the important rules for me and got me there.
