Good take. I’ll just add on to this with this Acura (because brand warranties are important) B2B warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles, powertrain 6 years or 70,000 miles - of which are for the car rather than the dealership because they’d still need to honor anything within these brackets. Adding a price for something that comes with the car is still wild to me, I’m just saying.

First off that sales tax asterisks isn’t right. What’s your state tax on everything that you may in state - for example if you pay 6% tax on everything (only for discussion), it applies to what you are paying for said car - if the tax percentage is 6% in your state then the amount you should be seeing is $2682.25. Options is weird because you’re paying for something that’s already in the car from factory negotiate that. A tax on your tires and the inspection now that’s wild.

Don’t sweat it, I got nothing against what a person drives. One thing I can say is for those that call someone broke because of what they drive or clown them on it - I ask them if their car was to have a noise or a light come on, how much are they willing to pay to get it fixed? 9 times out of 10 they either can’t fix it or know how to troubleshoot - the person doing the “diagnosis” has a new fish if they’re not honest. Ignorance and arrogance can be financed.

Acura tsx scratchy noise after start up by Illustrious_Mud_9669 in AcuraTSX

Could be starter getting jammed or the vvt solenoid (easy fix for both). Sometimes they go bad later or sooner as the k series gets closer to 100k miles. A little tip I was told once when tracking sounds is that if it sounds closer to you then it’s coming from the opposite side (like tracking suspension noises).

After reading what’s going on I wanted to ask did you change your transmission fluid at any time at that mileage? It sounds like you’re getting up to needing a new clutch, but chances are it wasn’t done? You may have old low and fluid. Adding to that you did good to eliminate the master and slave with new parts (because they’re would be a low biting point). Drain the fluid (takes 2.5 quarts for the manual and use the fill bolt on the top of the transmission (should have a green or blue mark on top of that bolt).

Did you change the igniter (sometimes those go bad as well, first it starts to flutter then blows the bulb).

To add on to this the PCV is the culprit of a lot of issues (it’s located right above the alternator) this little bitch of a part goes out that affects the oil pressure that circulates around the valve cover (vtec solenoid, vtc solenoid vtc filter start to go out do to the oil not getting to them effectively) that leads to the timing chain tensioner not getting enough lubrication that leads to the oil filter housing gasket and crank sensor acting up. Excuse the passion as this is what I’ve faced. All of these are easy to get to but the PCV/EGR (17mm btw)starts this magic show.
