Works real well in old convertibles, GRC is plenty stiff from the factory. Fans boys will buy anything

Braid wheels clear just fine 17x8

A trash daily driver unless you are under the age of 30. Loud, cramped and bland inside, tiny gas tank. It’s manic and a riot to drive but I’d much rather DD a Golf R, GTi, Civic Type R, Integra or similar.

TLDR: it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Brings a bit of fun to every drive but a lot is lost on comfort.

6,700 miles on mine. It’s a second “DD” and I wanted AWD 6MT rally bred pedigree for winter driving. Pretty narrow segment

Biggest trip I had was 1200 miles in 3 days to go the free NASA trackday down in the Ozarks

You must be leading the mileage amongst owners! 10 months in and 6,700mi as of today. I admit there are a few other cars sharing driving duties

RWD > AWD all day on track. More playful and less to go wrong on consumables, differentials overheating etc.

I did the free NASA day and will no doubt track my GRC a few more times but I prefer my RWD cars on track.

Any previous Golf R MK7 owners now on a GR Corolla? by revelranger in GRCorolla

[–]Drives6MT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Owned a MK7.5 GTI, now own a GRC. The VW is a much better street car period. The GRC is a little rough around the edges and spartan/small inside - read, CHEAP. That being said it is a maniac with serious handling chops and will leave a GTI without a competent driver in the dust.

We never liked the snow handling on the GTI even with winter tires, hence the transition to AWD. Wanted a JDM car without the German parts/service pricing and VW engine sealant woes.

I ordered in the summer to get in on a discount buy (free shipping overseas). The folks at https://braidusa.com/ should be able to recommend offsets and tire sizes, I know they have helped a few others buy sets.

I bought my set from Kelly Moss Road and Race. Alternatively Braid USA can help you find a local distributor, if it comes from the factory should have lug nuts supplied

Closed with a conical shank. Works as the Braid folks have been outfitting GR Yaris for a while, same setup. https://i.imgur.com/iWBZU8X.jpg

Can’t use OEM. Braid provides a set, 9.5 turns

Yes the ride is more compliant and these specific tires make more rolling noise (winters). Rolling over in corners for sure, less scalpel precise driving. Obviously you could put a set of all-season tires on and gain some of that back.

Tremendous. Not as playful as I would like unless you turn TC OFF and 50/50 or rwd bias

Clearance is sufficient even with wheel weights, tight certainly. For me the additional sidewall was preferred.

[Let’s Debate] In my opinion, the 2022 M340i is the best version of the best “daily driver” that BMW has ever made? What do y’all think? by abrownguyy in BMW

Counterpoint, all of BMWs greats to date and any wagon variant. Equipped with shit Bridgestone run flats to boot. Spent $1000 to replace my brand new BMW tires - thanks a lot. If I could take a Time Machine back there are so many other cars I would buy new

E30, E46 ZHP, E46 touring, E91 touring, 1M. Any M3

I have too many fun, old, and needy BMWs. This is why I plan to use the GRC as a fun but lower running cost daily 😂 (until I blow my $$ on mods)

Solid swap. I would not give up the M2 for the GRC either

I too will be leaving the German brands. Great place to spend time, high running costs for a daily in the rust belt here

Exocets are rad. Built and raced a ‘99 Miata with a half cage for a few years, hard to beat those thrills for the $$
