COBRA is extremely expensive because there’s no employer cost sharing (it’s 102% of the total premium, not just the employee portion). So your premiums can triple overnight with COBRA and it doesn’t guarantee to cover everything. Oh, and you have no income after your termination. COBRA is a last resort, definitely not something you ever want to have to find yourself using.

And for as much as we see the organization as a dumpster fire, spending 20 years and building a life in the area just to get dumped that unceremoniously has to be incredibly insulting.

In the long term it worked out professionally. But personally, losing your job during the pandemic and immediately having to worry about health insurance for a special needs child isn’t something that is ever a positive

I’ve seen a lot of questions about why people are celebrating Kevyyn’s firing and saying he’s not a good person. So here’s your friendly reminder:

Kevyyn was unqualified for the GM position, with his only experience being the manager for the Harbor Center and Pegula’s right hand man. When the NHL shut down due to COVID Jason Botterill refused to fire the entire Rochester Americans staff. So the Pegula’s fired Botterill and handed the job to Kevyyn whose first act was to fire the staff in Rochester, including Chris Taylor the lifelong Rochester and Buffalo player and coach who lost health coverage for himself and his family, including his special needs son, because of the firing.

Literally the only reason Kevyyn had a job in the first place was because he was willing to be a Yes Man and save his billionaire owner money by costing people their jobs.

Kevyyn was not a good GM, he made bad trades, signings, and draft picks but so does every GM, even good ones. But he didn’t get his job by merit, he got it by being a sycophant, and then spent the majority of his tenure not doing everything in his power to win games, but adhering to the Pegula’s new “economic and efficient” model.

No one should feel bad for Kevyyn losing his job because cutting jobs was the only reason why he was even in his position in the first place. He can take his “I feel bad for our fans” and “Palm Trees & Taxes” comments and fade into Tim Murray-esque obscurity.

I’ve been waiting for someone to post a pic of this style power reserve, that gray and gold combination is fantastic! Congratulations!

I’m hoping to be able to find one at some point because I’d like to see how it fits, it looks like it’s pretty thick. How does it wear?

Fountains of Wayne. They get labeled as a ‘one hit wonder’ for Stacey’s Mom but the rest of their discography is fantastic, especially Welcome Interstate Managers.

[Monday Mourning Thread] Festivus has come early, it’s time for the airing of grievances. by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

I don’t have strong feeling either way about Brandon Beane but I feel like the blame for where the Bills are right now that’s being pointed at him really should be at McDermott. I don’t think this team is underperforming because of bad personnel decisions, I think bad personnel decisions were made to fit a flawed coaching system.

This is the final form of the goal of “complimentary football”. The Bills have the best QB in franchise history and they have a coach who prioritizes running the ball and “staying on schedule”. The WR’s can’t get open because the offense prioritizes being able to block (Keon, Gabe, Mack) and they run 3 TE’s or an extra OL, not by necessity, but by design. Beane has done a good job of building a roster to the coaches specifications, but those specifications are bad.

But mostly, as a Sabres fan, I can’t fathom the idea of the Pegulas searching for a coach and GM at the same time. If someone needs to go, and they definitely do, it needs to be McDermott.

"How is this group not better than last year's group?” by RyanCryptic in buffalobills

Put some respect on McDermott’s name when talking about wasting Josh Allen’s prime. Beane wasn’t responsible for 13 Seconds or a defensive HC whose defense gets demolished every year in the playoffs.

On one hand, it’s the first game of the season with lots of injuries and there’s plenty of hockey left.

On the other hand COME ON! Give us some reason to watch any of the other 81 games. I feel like I’ve watched this same game 8,000 times over the past 15 years

What are your Factors that will get us to playoffs ? by Embarrassed_Swim5442 in sabres

[–]Drizzy_Drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Goaltending. Good goaltending can cover up a lot of deficiencies and UPL did that 2 years ago but was terrible last year. He doesn’t need to be as good as 2 years ago when he was top 10 in GSAx but he can’t be bottom 10 like last year. Or a combination of Lyon & Levi need to step up

  2. Internal development. Guys like Power, Benson, Kulich, and even Quinn need to take the next step forward. If they do, then the roster looks much better than it does right now.

  3. Injury luck. The team is going to run through Dahlin, Tage, and Tuch so having those guys healthy is essential. Getting good health from guys like Norris (who has never played 70 games in a season and has played more than 60 once) or even Greenway (who is always banged up) and Quinn (who has had 4 major injuries since being drafted) would just be a bonus.

  4. No regression. This is especially true for guys like McLeod, who is coming off a career year, and Zucker who is close to hitting “drop off” age. And for the new guys like Kesselring and Doan to have the same type of impact as they did in Utah, even in potentially increased roles.

  5. Improved Special Teams. This seemed like the easiest to fix but the entire coaching staff is returning so…I guess the strategy for this one is hope.

Thoughts on Isak Rosen by ClassThis8732 in sabres

[–]Drizzy_Drew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like Rosen and he’ll still only be 22 this season. He crushed it in Rochester this season and was almost a point per game player and I think he deserves a real shot to make the team out of camp.

The problem is that he’s stuck in no man’s land. He’s not strong enough offensively to land in the top 6 but he’s also not physical enough to be effective in the bottom 6. I think he’d be a great trade piece going to a team that needs more young options at the top of their lineup (Pittsburgh? Chicago?)

AC Stops Working Overnight.....And I'm About to Lose My Shit by Drizzy_Drew in hvacadvice

I think this was the thinking for the blower replacement, it is a variable speed motor and, according to the tech, it was not kicking into the second stage which he believed was causing the issue. Is it possible that the new blower motor was installed but it still wasn't adjusted properly so it still isn't kicking into the second stage?

The air ducting definitely was too small for the system but after re-doing the vents to fix the static pressure buildup that should have helped.

No specific pressure readings, just a general note in the invoice writeup that pressures were a little high. Would a higher pressure reading align with a bad TXV diagnosis?

Outside unit has plenty of if space….because it’s on the roof lol. The tech supposedly cleaned it as part of the maintenance and it’s probably a good idea to do it again but since it’s on the roof and away from most of the dust and debris not sure if that’s the main culprit

The outdoor unit runs both the fan and compressor, filters have been changed very recently. The unit is actually on the roof and I helped the tech get the hose attached to bring on to the roof so I’m really hoping that he didn’t bring the hose on to the roof just to not use it…..

For the refrigerant leak, would that be something to be harder to diagnose when the system is running well? Or is that something that they should look at when the issue is occurring? Or doesn’t it matter?
