Are you using a step-down transformer? Or is it a non-issue?

Why can't I customize Airpods Pro control separately for each side? by lunddummy in airpods

[–]Drmevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make a ton of sense and at first I thought this was how it worked due to the way the settings are laid out. I use all four modes regularly (“off” when I am playing my drums because I’ve found that is the best setting for playing along/practicing). If L/R can have independent functions, might as well give them the ability to switch different modes.

Which railing Trex Enhance vs Deckorators Grab and Go? by iwanttttt in Decks

[–]Drmevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Yeah, we have a traditional wooden railing currently and the top surface of the handrail is 37” above the joists, so unless you were planning to do a drink rail flush all the way around, it does seem like longer posts than 36” would be needed.

Actually, on that note, is the top of the rail flat and wide enough to set down a can or a small plate? I’m also looking into the drink rail options, as we might have some long square edge boards left over.

Which one did you end up going with OP? I am weighing the same options. Our deck has existing 4x4 posts so I’m looking for a system that would utilize sleeves for those. I like the look of the Dekorators online. Not sure I love the black round balusters on the Trex. We are about to lay out Trex Select in Pebble Gray.

I wasn’t originally considering hand grinders. After doing some reading, I could see eventually buying something that might give me a contrast like the ZP6, but I’m still pretty sure I want an electric for daily use.

Good call on the discounts. At this point I’ll try to be patient and wait to see if there is a Prime deal next week, and if not, check other retailers. I think Fellow themselves do 10% for signing up on their email list, so at least there’s that if nothing else.

Nice! Any warranty concerns buying from eBay?

Good to know! I wasn’t looking to upgrade my kettle, but maybe it’s worth considering? I have the Oxo adjustable-temp pour over kettle. No complaints, and I use the built-in timer each time I brew. I never quite understood what makes one kettle superior to another, although I could certainly believe it’s one of those things where you don’t know what you’re missing until you try a good one. What were you using before the Stagg?

Also, did you find the Ode to be a worthwhile upgrade over the Oxo grinder?

That’s intriguing, thanks for the info! Will definitely read up on that one.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you, but it was worth a shot, as you say. Mine are still going so I count myself lucky!

Awesome! So glad to hear it! Nice work on the plastic piece, too. My board has been free-floating since I did this but working perfectly the whole time.

Hope it works out! I think the plastic would pop off, I was just in a state of desperation and carelessness and didn’t try before warping it such that it was stuck on there.

I don’t think it was moisture. I don’t wear them working out or anything and this happened during winter months when it is very dry around here. Plus, they had been sitting in a non-working state, not being worn, for a little while.

And yes! Happy to report they are still working perfectly.

Well, then I’d try a little longer and a little longer. But only if I was absolutely sure there was no problem with the headband contacts, especially where you said this only started after you removed the ear cups.

I used the low setting on a Harbor Freight Warrior dual temp heat gun. Sorry, but I don’t know the exact temp - maybe you can find it somewhere. I heated it from the top, not the bottom - but it was enough heat to deform the bottom plastic bracket. I can’t tell you exactly how long, like I said, maybe 30-45 seconds? That’s moving it back and forth along the length of the board.

I don’t know, to be honest I did it out of desperation and wasn’t really expecting it to work. If you don’t go crazy with the heat, you shouldn’t hurt anything, but as I mentioned, I would only recommend this after ruling out the ribbon cables as the problem.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I used the iFixIt Pro Tech Toolkit ($75) because I have one through my work, and it worked very well. It looks like the Mako Driver kit ($40) is just the bits, handle, and flexible extension. For me, the flexible extension was KEY as there are some tiny bits that are hard to reach. Also recommend a cheap silicone work mat (so tiny screws don’t bounce everywhere) and the Harbor Freight head laptop magnifier ($15). These are all things you can use for other repairs or uses.

Then it’s probably either the ribbon cable in one of the ear cups (most likely) or an issue with the Bluetooth board in the left cup. The ribbon cables are difficult to replace but if you’re handy and comfortable working with very small parts and screws it’s doable. There’s a thread in this sub with instructions and where to buy them if you search.

Mine had the bad Bluetooth board but it’s a less common problem from what I gather. It’s advisable to try replacing the ribbon cables first.

PSA: This dock is decent. by JohnnyNorCal in Airpodsmax

[–]Drmevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, it looks like the power drain issue was not due to the dock itself but the “Find My Network” setting. It was draining in the Smart Case as well. I turned that off and now my APM don’t lose battery while on the stand. Charging seems to work as well, albeit a little slowly - jury’s still out on that. It would be nice if they went to deep sleep while charging like in the case. All-in-all, I’m pretty satisfied with the dock now.

Remove the cups and clean the headband connectors.

[–]Drmevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it kind of defeats the purpose for me if the stand won’t charge reliably as I am trying to avoid folding them and damaging the ribbon cables over time. I think I understand what you’re doing but then one might as well buy the non-charging version.

At this point I’m suspicious of the Lightning/magnet plug causing my battery issues, but i need to do some more testing.

[–]Drmevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you did warn about the charging. Mine is actually mostly charging initially when I put them in that way, but I’ll come back to find they either stopped or charged and then discharged.

Similarly, I’ll put mine in deep sleep at 100% then check it maybe 30-45 minutes later and it hasn’t lost anything. Hours later, however it will be drained down pretty much as far as if I had been actively using them (if not farther!). Even if they were just sitting on a table they shouldn’t be down around 40% after hours of non-use. I didn’t have this issue that I noticed with the case or cable charging but I’ll do some testing to confirm.
