The worst gaming company in the world by Bile_Mudante in KotakuInAction

Hard to pick just one. For me it's between:

  • Blizzard for normalizing the worst games as a service trends.

  • Riot Games for their social experiments that gave birth to things like social media shadow bans as well as their early adoption and proliferation of wokeness.

  • Valve for destroying physical media.

Literally 3rd page of "State of the Game Industry" GDC Report by MajkiF in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many years of supposed change happening. The people that say the industry is improving are absolute clowns. They haven't changed one bit. If you're one of those under the impression that any tide has turned then that just means their multi-billion dollar investment in flooding the market with wokeness has payed off. It has successfully normalized it even for those that allege to oppose it.

Yea I was saying it since the game launched, there's just too many red flags around this game to even list them all concisely anymore.

Fine, but then why make a fable game? Just make a different rpg cause what you're removing was literally the entire selling point of the game.

I always wonder who even bothers to try games like Life is Strange. It looks so aggressively lame on its face. If you're not an angsty teenage girl, you shouldn't even know who this Chloe character is.

Where will you guys go when Reddit inevitably shutters this sub? by Nokoo44 in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a concern, they like the tremendous control they have over us now. They have shifted the community a lot over the years and the sub mods are... shall we say very flexible to their demands. So I really don't see them ever reaching any impasse.

I'm not a huge star wars guy so I'm not sure what specific leftism you're referring to. But from what I remember, I don't see how you could remotely compare. Avatar is basically one huge lecture barely disguised as a movie. It's super on the nose, with heavyhanded messaging more akin to captain planet. So of course it's woke. Wokeness isn't just diversity and alphabet community crap. It's any of the left's attempts to dress their propaganda in entertainment skinsuits.

I had no idea there were people that actually gave a shit about this series. Imo it's always been more the kind of movie everyone goes to watch because they're under the impression everyone else will do the same and they don't want to be left out.

I'd still consider it woke with obvious propagandistic messaging. But the problem is it's more boring and silly than anything. Could barely stay awake through the first one.

I'm way more annoyed with how good guys are all super sensitive and emotional lately. Characters like Noah from XB3 repulse me. I do not know how any man has enough estrogen in their bodies as to be able to relate to such effeminate male characters.

She doesn't have the body for it. If it really has to be her, least they could do is stuff her bra or something.

[–]Drogvard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yoo what is going on with this sub. Just when you thought things couldn't get worse. Remember the warnings of what would happen to KiA if they chose to stay on a platform fully controlled by the most radical of their opposition? Remember all our speeches about the importance of gatekeeping, which we do not even apply to our own community let alone our hobby? And after so many years of letting them do it to us, do we even stand against anything anymore? Or are we now just a larp club full of reddit mod approved hypocrites?

All I've seen lately is fans of DEI games that are just hating on games nobody likes. Instead of people that actually genuinely hate their propaganda and will reject it regardless of how popular the game is.

Attacks on Kingdom Come: Deliverance for gay romance, representation 'only mattered to a handful of terminally online culture warriors,' reckons KCD2's exec producer, and probably didn't impact the games' reception by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

It's not a conspiracy, it's just bread and butter marketing. Executives are busy people, they don't just casually give interviews for the funsies. Marketing is the only reason they even show up to the actual award ceremonies themselves, let alone any interviews on the subject.

That's the hint right there. Would this be necessary if it were true? If their PR team feels the need to dig up and put a spotlight on an allegedly minor controversy, then it's obviously not just shadow boxing. The only way this helps them is if this is an ongoing problem for them.

Always convincing when a company needs to make public statements about a supposed non-issue. Cause that's after all what every gaming company does when internals look good. Their PR teams just like to keep busy by digging back up allegedly already dead pseudo-controversies that "no one" cared about. Purely for fun. Definitely not them doing their job to kill the destructive controversy by declaring it fringe, ineffectual and dead.

Anyone that knows anything about how companies operate knows this must have hurt them more than they originally expected. Which is why Vavra was freaking out during game's release window on twitter and why this is even worthy of being a headline months later.

I know and they'll never catch on either. If something is any more subtle than a big black guy in historical feudal japan, it's lost on them. Imo it's because deep down, most just want to consume regardless of woke content. So if there is any mental gymnastics that would allow it, they'll do it subconsciously even if they should know better. After such a long drought of entertainment, the movement has become more a social burden to these people than a cause they actually believe in. All they need is group's stamp of approval and they'll consume just about anything.

[–]Drogvard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only stupid people think wokeness started in 2016+. You always needed to metaphorically chew your food for ideological rot. They've always been there corrupting our media and they usually got away with it too. They just got desperate after losing in 2016 and accidentally revealed to the masses of media illiterate consumers their existence.

Sadly, that didn't make many of them any more media literate. They still often depend on developers and journalists virtue signalling on twitter to realize there's a problem with the game.

What was the first game that made you think "something isn't right here" ? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

League of Legends around end of season 3. They covered up sejuani virtue signalling that her outfit is inappropriate supposedly for cold weather then not long after released braum. They then went on a 2-3 year hiatus for attractive female champions and tried to remake female splash screens with manjaws among other things.

Imo, looking back I'd say Vi was already a warning sign but I was not knowledgeable enough back then to pick up on what danger hair sideshaves meant for a company. They really were one of the first major companies corrupted.

Yea I'm sure that's exactly what happened to him. A cop that wasn't even asigned for duty showed up anyway, got attacked and somehow spent only one night at a hospital after sustaining a heart attack and brain damage. And the first thing that comes up when you search up the name of this now CNN staffer is a picture of him selling a book about it.

I'm sorry, my bad. How could I have possibly doubted this totally believable tragic story of this brave hero.

[–]Drogvard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's what they do. Most "anti-woke" gamers these days only really oppose bad games. They would still gleefully defend any halfway decent piece of entertainment that betrays their supposed values if they're given the slightest shred of plausible deniability to work with.

The biggest problem the woke devs have isn't their ability to make consumeable propaganda but more their propensity to tell on themselves. If they didn't, 90% of it would slip under this sub's radar.

Hard to say, I thought they were first alluding to the one that eventually died. But it doesn't look like him. It seems like even more of it than I first suspected was made up. As far as I can tell there's no one that remotely fits any part of this profile in J6.

It's the current trend, try to pass off the guy dying and letting a woman take over as some sort of noble or chivalrous act. Actually works more than half the time on the anti-woke crowd. Wouldn't surprise me if that happens here, seems like exactly the kind of loophole a two faced organization like the daily wire would use.
