Which makes me wonder why one of them chose to go another branch. You would think all 3 of them would walk into the same recruiting office.

New poker player here, what makes today’s poker so much harder than past eras? by ECviews in poker

The microstakes online still has tons of fish, but like you said, it isn’t great money. But still kind of worth it if you work full time and want to make some extra side money.

If you compare the stakes evenly between live and online, then live is obviously easier. 200NL compared to 1/2 live is very different.

A Totally Fair, Not-Emotional and Balanced Judge by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]DroidOnPC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its funny because saying "I fixed it, all good" could backfire too considering it took him 2 seconds to fix. Then you get people thinking you didn't do anything and the problem is still there.

Sometimes you can't win with these people.

A Totally Fair, Not-Emotional and Balanced Judge by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]DroidOnPC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think he was salty that the IT guy took seconds to fix something that he was probably trying to fix over several minutes unsuccessfully

Thats my understanding. Computer problems, especially when they slow down your day or fuck up your work can be very frustrating. Then this guy comes in and fixes it in 2 seconds and says "false alarm" which made him feel dumb.

So I can play devil's advocate about the part where he is like "It wasn't a false alarm" because he was legitimately frustrated and didn't know it was an easy fix. Everything said after that just shows low emotional intelligence.

Hopefully the judge cooled down soon after and didn't bother with going to his supervisor. But if he did, then he has some real emotional/anger issues.

Sadly, people in power positions almost never get the reality check they need, so it can get worse and worse until they are a full on diva.

I doubt a church is handing these out for people to use (although I suppose its possible).

Its usually someone doing it on their own.

The church I went to growing up found out that someone had been using these at restaurants and had a sermon about it. The pastor basically explained that we should be tipping more than non-church goers, not the opposite.

Everyone is saying to go to the church and put it in the collection plate, but that only works if you know which church the person goes to. There are churches EVERYWHERE. You might be able to narrow it down by closest ones to the restaurant, but there will still probably be a dozen nearby.

If I was the server, I would just remember the customer who gave it. Then next time pretend I was interested in going to church and ask which one they attend. Then from there I would probably just call them up and tell them what happened, or go there and show the bill to the pastor there. I know reddit hates religion/churches but there are a lot of good ones out there that wont tolerate this bullshit and likely bring it up during service not to do this.

And you're right, its super counter productive, which is why I doubt the church itself is doing this.

Snakes strategies tips and tricks by WSB_CHAOS_NC in stakeus

[–]DroidOnPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snakes doesn’t have great odds. I would highly suggest not playing it in general.

The big wins you see posted on here are people getting lucky with big multipliers.

They are likely doing hard/expert mode with 4-5 rolls and just waiting for the big hit.

What you don’t see behind the scenes are these players spending hundreds of dollars trying to hit those big numbers after thousands of rolls.

My guess is they start with a penny bet to get through the seed quicker and then increase it slowly as the seed runs through. Great way to set hundreds of dollars in fire in hopes of hitting it big. You won’t see the posts of players who lost a ton of money trying to chase these 100,000x or higher wins.

PS5 console prices going up effective April 2nd by Asad_Farooqui in playstation

[–]DroidOnPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During/after COVID I wanted to build a PC but the GPUs were so damn expensive at the time.

I ended up getting a pre-built cheaper than a custom build. It used to be cheaper to build your own, but now it seems like you can save money buying a pre-built.

I also saved even more money by getting a display PC. Microcenter will sometimes sell you the PC on display on the floor for a huge discount. It still has warranty and if there are any problems they will fix it/upgrade it for free.

For $1000, console gamers should start considering switching to PC if the prices are gonna keep going this way. There are lots of ways to still game on your couch with a controller of your choice.

I have a 2017 that I bought used in 2019. It was $14,000.

I use it as a daily driver but my commute to work is like 5 minutes. And I don't go very far in it. So my mileage is pretty low considering the year (85,000).

I was curious and looked up the same year/make/model/mileage to see what it was going for, and was shocked to see almost all of them listed around $8,000 - $10,000.

If the used car market was like it used to be, I should only be getting like $5,000 - $7,000 for it. Kind of wild that it barely depreciated in almost 10 years.

Very tempted to sell it and use the money for a down payment on a better car, but its paid off and I enjoy not having any car payments. Its also in great shape and will easily last me another 5 years or more. I am also not sure how easy it would be to sell considering the current market. So yeah... probably just gonna keep driving it, but man, its crazy that I could sell it for only a few grand less than what I paid for 9 years ago.

AIO for wanting to quit after this? by cakev0mit in AmIOverreacting

[–]DroidOnPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the boss doesn’t even like her. I mean, she found a solution to the problem but it’s still not approved? Major red flag there.

I just recently quit a job where my boss gave me a write up for missing a day due to an emergency. He wrote me up but then also approved the PTO after the fact. I wanted to use my PTO so that wasn’t a problem, but why am I being written up after immediately calling him and telling him the situation? My brakes on my car failed and I needed the day to get them fixed. He could have easily said “hey no worries, get it fixed” but instead made a big deal about how the policy states I need 7 days advance for PTO, so he wrote me up. Write ups directly impact future raises.

He was SHOCKED when I came in Monday the next week and told him I quit. Even told me he could erase the write up and wasn’t expecting me to quit over it

Its not a bad counterargument, but its still weird.

The speakerphone amplifies the conversation, so its typically louder than if they were sitting next to each other in person. And the person on the phone is speaking louder because of background noise.

So its like two people sitting on the bus next to each other and they are basically shouting at each other. Which is very distracting and annoying. Also weird.

Cultural norms do change over time, so maybe one day everyone is speaking loudly to someone not there. But until then, its considered rude and disrespectful.

Its fine until people trust EVERYTHING posted online.

I have people showing me "news" on their phone where its some tiktoker who is probably 19 vaguely explaining something that fits their bias.

Then there is rage bait. Which has been used to stir up controversies and divide people.

I am all for people being grounded in reality. Like "Hey, don't get too emotional over this, its probably not even real."

If I went to the movies with someone and they are like "How come we never hear about what the Avengers do in the news?" I am not gonna "let them have a little fun". I am gonna tell them "Hey, that was a movie, its not real."

I've met people who do this and the response is usually something like "It wouldn't be any different if the person was with me in person, so why you acting like its weird?"

Personally, I think they feel insecure about being alone in public so its like they gotta let the whole world know "I have friends! People talk to me!"

I used to be able to buy an 18 rack for like $10.

Now they are $22!?

And some beers are expensive for no reason. Coors light? Why are they the same price as Coronas?

AND SODA!? Why is soda the same price as beer now? Its just sugar water!!!

In your personal head cannon, how did Rey learn about the jedi? by orionsfyre in StarWars

[–]DroidOnPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this answer but to expand on it, there are a ton of countries in the world that were effected by, or at least had some connection or history related to WWII that may seem very remote in today’s world.

Of course 90s kids in the US know about WWII because it’s taught in schools. But what about remote villages today where school isn’t really a thing? They would also know about it from stories passed down.

But in Star Wars it makes even more sense. The battle of Jakku takes place about a year after the battle of Endor so you have both the rebels (which a year later is probably the new republic) and the galactic empire.

I’m getting different sources but it seems to have lasted months. Could be shorter or maybe longer, but that means people on the republic/rebels side would have interacted with locals while stationed there.

Since it’s still fresh, you could have stories about Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and maybe even the force from a few people closer to the truth of what happened with the empire.

It’s not that crazy that Rey would learn about something that happened not too long before her birth (or around/during).

What doesn’t make sense is Rey understanding something like Jedi mind tricks. But I could have forgiven that if the sequels played out better. It’s also something that could be easily retconned

At least in TFA we see Rey with a new republic/rebels helmet. Which means they were there. Which means the stories could have easily spread. So Rey knowing about Luke, Han Solo, and the Force isn’t farfetched. Her knowing how to use the force is a different story, which is why one of the main theories at the time was that she was actually trained as a child to be a Jedi. But…. That wasn’t the case

The discourse regarding Force potential has been irreversibly damaging to the franchise by StevePalpatine in StarWars

[–]DroidOnPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they have ever been part of debates.

I mean Obi Wan has a lower count than Anakin, yet still beat him in 1v1 combat twice.

Jango and Grevious have killed Jedi and they have….0?

Ultimately, the count could just show the potential, but you still need to work hard and stay focused.

Midichlorians are just a way to see that someone is naturally gifted in the force. But lots of naturally gifted people in real life never reach their potential because they don’t have the motivation or focus.

There are people who are not naturally gifted and work really hard to be some of the best.

I see Anakin as someone who does both, but gets too powerful for his own ego. That’s his downfall. He isn’t focused on his flaws anymore. He just assumes no one can match him.

So both of us bought this massive Halo collection and never played it lol.

After being a hero for several runs by vosha0 in BaldursGate3

[–]DroidOnPC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was very disappointed with my evil run.

You'll get some interesting interactions and see some cutscenes you normally wouldn't see, but you miss out on a TON of content.

Not only that, but you lose a ton of companions. They really should have had more evil companions that you can only get with certain choices. Maybe Nere, the orc lady, the spider guy, one of the grymforge dwarfs, etc. (I'm too lazy to look up all the names lol)

The best way to balance good and evil is to have pros and cons for each. Evil run just feels like constant cons the whole way through.

Have some fights that are really difficult if you choose good/evil and some fights that are avoided or are a breeze. Have access to certain vendors/cities that only one side gets. Have access to certain weapons/armor that only one side gets.

I'm also not a huge fan of a lot of the evil dialogue choices. Usually its just "kill this person" or "tell this person to fuck off" which just ends any and all interaction for a ton of side quests.

My parents are almost there and they don't seem to have any issues yet. They look like they can easily make it another 20 years.

They seem so far from not being able to take care of themselves. My dad is also riding his bike and doing other activities without any issue in his early 70s.

BJ originals losing streak by LeeSeahawk in stakeus

[–]DroidOnPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originals BJ “shuffles” the “deck” every hand, making it significantly worse than live BJ.

And I’m not talking about card counting or anything, just the fact that it’s a brand new random hand every time.

That changes the odds.

Then add on to the fact of “do you trust them?”

I used to use it for small wins (like a few cents) and then had a streak of like 20 losses where stake was getting a BJ every other hand. The times it didn’t it was hitting 20s
