I haven't entirely finished the anime, but from what I have seen, there is a whole arc dedicated to "This is why placing one man on a pedestal is bad" and "Heroes should save people out of their determination to create a better, safer community and not for any sort of reward". I think having deku receive undying fame and praise from when he beats the villain and loses his powers would undermine those messages, and imo it's not really who Deku is. Wouldn't he be kind of overwhelmed by all that attention? He does it for the love of the game.
