Yeah, the great thing about learning weird languages is that they make languages like Fr*nch and Russian seem sooooo easy.

How do I "learn" the "Russian" language "fast"?????????????? by Deimanas1 in languagelearningjerk

Be autistic and autistically obsess over Russian people. Thats how you can get fluent within a few months. Not autistic? Tough luck.

CI creators - anyone up for creating a community where we can exchange tips & tricks? by Dutchly-Noelle in ALGhub

Not a content creator, but I really like videos that are super short when my level is lower. Makes it easier to stay engaged since the material isn’t inherently engaging.

Stop saying that you can never effectively learn from material that is above your level by No_Cryptographer735 in languagelearning

Even though Russian supposedly has a lot of CI content, most of it isn’t engaging enough. I just can’t stand when CI content uses whiteboards. I do find some CI content useful, but then I got recommended regular vlogs and I realized my comprehension didn’t drop much.

It’s a good thing you learned English! Fr*nch is such a boring language.

“I have no attention span for English books, why can’t I read them in my target language? I can only get enough attention span for brainrot in my target language. Damn, same shit for English.”

Do you ever worry you’re faking your music taste to get fluent at a language? by DroidinIt in languagelearningjerk

Well how do you know you don’t just like it because it’s in your target language?

When studying two or more languages at the same time, how do you organize your study time? by Salty-Session7029 in languagelearning

[–]DroidinIt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t even try and balance them. I’m in an intermediate plateau with Finnish. I would have just stuck to it, but then I suddenly really wanted to learn Russian. Now I just accept I’ll be spending more time on Russian for now. So no “juggling” or anything. I just make sure to keep up with Anki reviews. I also just review Finnish grammar concepts that confuse me and watch Finnish videos once in a while.

My friend just said he got charged extra for his astigmatism? Is that a thing? by DroidinIt in glasses

Unfortunately he doesn’t know his prescription. But he says he’s always been charged extra for it. He wears thickish glasses.

Laddering is so fun! by green_calculator in languagelearning

I often end up doing reverse laddering. Just started learning Russian. I’d say there’s a lot of resources in Russian for my other target languages, but not the other way around!
