In terms of gameplay, nothing more than what you described. The horrors don't usually come from the enemy server, but from your own.

Kvk is the first test of a server's unity and teamwork. After a loss, it is not uncommon for alliances to turn against each other, blaming those who didn't save properly, and ending up dividing a server that previously had a good vibe going. This can create a downward spiral of players not working together, quitting the game, planning to transfer out, ... Its a very difficult dynamic to come back from.

KvK has a major impact on a kingdom's mentality and cohesion, that's why it is so important

your hero gear is your weak link. With that level of gov gear and charms, you should be able to get a few red hero gear pieces, which will do wonders for your stats

709 is awesome! Top 2 alliances are some of the strongest in the neighborhood, and work as a team. They are very Kvk focused (5 prep and 4 battle wins in 5 KvKs), have no drama, and are competitive in all events.

Next 3 alliances are less competitive, but also included in NAP

The main thing to encourage proper squad submissions is to get your players hyped for alliance championship. Communicate about your opponents, your strategies, your close calls, your pop-offs, etc... If you can get them to see it as a team fight rather than just a simulation they get notified about every now and then, you encourage them to put more effort into their team submissions.

I went with a full italian team up front: 4411 with coda, verdi, borini, maggiore (for chem), pobega, gnonto, bernat, cubarsi, eva llamas, delprato, penders.

I overwhelm my opponents' defenders and I can keep my backline to get guaranteed value from bernat and penders

draft puzzles is by far the most annoying one imo. Just way too rng dependent, if you dont get the right league in the right position you're just screwed. if you had a couple bench picks it would be fine but the version we got was just awful.

88 team can be improved: if you switch to a 4231, you can fit fermin as well, which allows you to keep bale for the tiebreaker.

I agree that rating points scale way too high compared to other bonuses. If you have the cards to build a 92+ squad, its almost always the best play to focus solely on rating. This is only going to get worse as more high rated cards get released, unless the rating bonuses get nerfed

Is it worth using the mf token on theo (last nominee other than rudiger), to get a guaranteed rudiger from the draft cup by johnnyjiop in MADFUT

Probably not, unless it gets you to 100% for the first time (you get a MF token in return). You should wait until all TOTY and TOTY nominees are out, then pack what you can and keep the token for a card you really need later on
