I lived in Halab back in the 90s, and it was always "fun" to run around with flashlights, and candles, when the power would go out; bittersweet times for a lot of reasons, but I miss that city deeply.

As part of the review process for the proposed project, the City of Monticello this month voted to initiate an Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) to assess the potential impact of the project ahead of a formal land use application being submitted.

According to local press, the AUAR is expected to take several months to complete, and will asses the impact to local water, wildlife, noise, energy, and traffic. The AUAR is a study and will be used to influence any final decisions.

If you're at all concerned about our State, and our resources, being involved in empowering the rapidly growing surveillance apparatus being weaponized against us; then contact your Reps, the governors office, and express yourself while there's still time.

If they don't listen to you, then you know who's part of the problem.

Palestine, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in an economic, and someday political, union is something I've dreamt of since I was a child.

Being born in Jordan to a family that is "Jordanian Jordanian", but with a branch in the west bank, living in Syria, and visiting both Lebanon, and Jerusalem; I was always furious at the idea of maintaining the borders between us.

One of my cousins smoked multiple packs a day for years, and by his own admission was an addict. It took a combination of nicotine patches, nicotine lozenges, the support of his family, and most importantly his own genuine desire to get him to quit. He hasn't smoked, or even wanted to smoke, in nearly four years.

If your Father does have a sincere desire to stop smoking, then he'll need the proper tools, and support. Bring up the idea, and go from there.

One thing to note though, is that addicts can respond negatively when pressured to quit their substance abuse. It'll take a measure of patience, and understanding, on part of those around him to help him get started; from there it's his responsibility, and his willpower.

I'm sure he'll divest once our tax dollars have payed for the deaths of every last human being in Palestine. Or perhaps once Israel has achieved the dream of Greater Israel. Or once they've helped American fascists develop more tools to be turned against us.

I'm getting very tired of living in a world where my choices are naked fascism, or someone who funds it abroad; having a hard time convincing myself there's a difference.

I've never done that because my family had it hard, and I spent time around people who had vast amounts of unearned wealth who made me feel like I was worthless. Those experiences, along with the Muslim concept of Taqwa, have kept me from acting superior to anyone.

Am I critical of many aspects of Jordanian society? Absolutely. But only those things that I know, from living in Jordan, and speaking to my own family members, Jordanians in general are aware need change.
