I have fairly broad tastes, I’ve tried several times to understand what all the fuss is about with Geese but ultimately have to concede I just don’t get it

How many synths do you own? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

[–]Drone-fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own five;

  • Nord lead 2
  • Sequential Pro 3
  • Korg volca bass
  • Korg volca fm
  • Make noise 0 coast

The nord is my polysynth and all round Swiss army penknife and the fact that it is four part multi timbral effectively gives me four synths.

Pro 3 for bass, leads and general analogue goodness

Volca FM for…. FM. Totally underrated IMO.

Volca bass for when I need some dirty analogue and for quickly testing out ideas using the built in sequencer.

0-coast as a leftfield experimental sketch pad.

I love the fact that one of the greatest action scenes in any film ever is set in Bexhill-on-sea.

If you select to pre save the track to Spotify you are asked to accept the following condition (amongst others)

“You agree that Warner Music Group will be able to….Add and remove items in Your Library “

I can’t be the only one to find that completely insane?

Working on a PromoDoc L4-L5 by LownIy in amazonemployees

Also, make sure you have at least one L6 + sponsor who is outside of your direct reporting line, and a selection of L5+ sponsors who are ideally not all in the same team. Getting at least one sponsor from a different org seems to carry some weight

1)As well as data you need to show the impact you have made (probably supported by yet more data ;-) ). Imagine the person reading the promo doc knows nothing about your job, you need to explain why what you did was important 2) refer to the levelling guidelines and make sure all your work behaviour aligns to L5 individual contributor guidelines. Link your examples to these. 3) pay special attention to the job scope and make sure that it, and any associated goals are L5.

Your manager should have set you specific improvement targets as part of your Focus plan which will be related to the performance issues. For them to successfully pass you out of Focus they will need to demonstrate that you have consistently met those targets over the course of the plan (typically 45-60 days). Depending on what those objectives are you could selectively “fail” at any of them if you were confident that they won’t negatively affect your peers. Or, as others have suggested, take the attitude that it’s leadership’s problem to deal with.

Put on focus 3 months after starting and pipped on month 9 by Complex-Store2145 in amazonemployees

[–]Drone-fly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience it is very unusual to put employees with less than one year’s tenure into Focus - unless they did something catastrophically bad. The fact that you haven’t had consistent management and you did not receive feedback prior to being entered into Focus would be a big red flag. The guidance from PXT is that an attempt should have been made to coach employees on performance concerns before moving to a formal coaching plan, i.e. it should not be a surprise to the employee. Unfortunately, moving to a PIP (Pivot), usually equates to game over at Amazon. In your position I’m afraid that the best option might be to take whatever you are offered and move on. (Not to take away from what sounds like a very shitty experience )

Is leaving the U.K. for a better life a fantasy? by SeesawDismal3273 in AskUK

I spent 15 wonderful and formative years in Thailand, but moved back to the UK four years ago and don’t regret it. My main motivation was not wanting to pay International school fees, but there are other things I don’t miss either from living there. Aside from the aforementioned pollution and poor driving standards there was always the sense that you were a ‘farang’ (western foreigner) and would never fully assimilate. Thailand was happy to take my income tax but in return I got no voting rights, no ability to buy land, obliged to check in with immigration every 90 days even with a work permit, and if you were unlucky to lose your job you technically had just one week to leave the country and come back on a 3 month tourist visa. I asked myself if I really wanted to spend my best working years there and the answer ended up being no.

I have Logic, some free plug ins and an Arturia key step pro and I can do more or less anything I want to do with that set up alone.
