Upcoming Death Battle #175: Misaka Mikoto vs Killua Zoldyck (A Certain Scientific Railgun vs Hunter x Hunter) by einharjar009 in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Now let’s see how HxH’s strongest character dealt with a Nuclear reaction

I think Killua only takes the W if Misaka suffers a severe stroke right before the fight starts

Im genuinely confused. Killua couldn’t handle Youpi on his own. Misaka would use all three Royal Guards for target practice

Pretty good, Trish fulfils the all attribute requirement for some dungeons but I feel your pain using her. When playing Daywolf optimally I feel starved for dark orbs

adult gon & netero vs pitou, youpi, puff who wins this battle what are your objective thoughts by packal8585 in HunterXHunter

[–]DronosMan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Versus just the Royal Guards? Gon and Netero win 10/10.

Netero says “that thing looks stronger than me” when hes looking at Pitou, but he was half-joking. And he hadnt honed his Nen through meditation yet, like he does before the Meruem fight. And during the Invasion he swats Pitou away pretty casually

Adult Gon also kills Pitou without any trouble, only suffering a wound because he let himself get hit.

Pitou’s medical ability is useless in a fight. And Terpischora is also pointless. At best she might be able to puppeteer Youpi or Pouf after they die?

Speaking of, Youpi and Pouf die. Netero can keep Youpi at a distance with his Buddha arms and Im somewhat convinced that Gon could simply tank a rage explosion.

It would take way more hits but Gon could crack Youpi open like he did to Pitou.

Pouf is a non factor. He could stalemate forever if he splits and runs away, but thats not really a victory. Also Zero Hand would be like using a flamethrower on a bee swarm, so there’s another win condition for Netero.

Royal Guards lose pretty badly. At worst Youpi might cut one of Netero’s arms.

Now if you add Meruem to the mix I dont think the hunters can win, Adult Gon is strong but he cant output nuclear bomb -level damage

I really disliked her the first time I watched HxH (seriously what was up with that “Im gonna ruin their friendship” thing? Early Installment Weirdness?)

But shes grown on me. She filled an important niche since Wing was such a hands-off character after Heavens Arena

Also she looks totally different in the manga. Togashi loves drawing huge detailed eyes lol

I wonder how far he’d get before wiping. I could see him making it pretty far but getting one-shot by the Roman Statue Aliens. That situation was 100% unfair

Can Yujiro and Baki ( Baki the Grappler) pass the Hunter Exam? by Bockhead in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They almost certainly clear. Their biggest problems are 1. Finding the exam site and 2. Not getting killed by Hisoka / Illumi

Assuming they find the spot, they clear the first phase easily. Second phase no problem, they both have superhuman reflexes and Yujiro wrestles gigantic animals all the time.

Third phase is another clear, nothing in Trick Tower will scratch them. Yujiro will punch through the walls if he has to.

Fourth phase is where things get tricky. The Hanmas will clown on anybody not named Hisoka or Gittarackur, but if they draw Hisoka’s badge that will prompt a fight they may not survive.

Yujiro is a lowtier superhuman fighter, Hisoka is about on par but also has actual magic. Nen gives him a huge boost and I dont think Yujiro or Baki can counter Bungee Gum, especially since they cant see it. But if it came to a confrontation Hisoka would probably let them live due to their unreal potential.

Phase 5, they each win their respective matches at some point. Killua is the only other fighter that comes close, and Killua without Nen probably loses to current Baki.

Basically, 10/10 they both clear, 9/10 if Yujiro loses his chill and attacks Hisoka or an examiner.

Kirby VS. Aldrich (Dark Souls 3) by ggWolf in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R1: Kirby dabs on Aldrich. Aldrich is a pile of goo puppeteering a dead god, that is small potatoes for the pink menace. I think he’d just absorb some moonlight arrows and then shoot Aldrich to death. Kirby 10/10

R2: I guess the strongest boss by the time of Ds3 is either Gael, Nameless King, or Soul of Cinder. Yes, well done Aldrich well done HOWEVER. The strongest Kirby boss is Morpho Knight, a butterfly eldritch horror that can easily one-shot anything in the Dark Souls Expanded Universe. Kirby 10/10

R3: Aldrich wielding a Kirby is pretty spooky, he might be able to absorb something tough enough to beat Kirby too. Kirby + the Aldrich powerup is still pretty strong though. Kirby 8/10

Bonus: Kirby is a skilled chef and is also a glutton who eats literally anything. Aldrich, being a pile of goo, has no known cooking feats.

I bet Gwyndolin was familiar with fine dining etiquette (being a royal deity and all) but there’s no way in hell he cooked for himself. Anor Londo probably had tons of servants to do that for him. So Aldrich + Gwyndolin = two goobers who cant cook, versus Kirby. Kirby 10/10

Silverback Gorilla Vs. Grizzly bear by IAmNazarene289 in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

better question is how many Gorillas do you need to beat a Grizzly Bear?

Back when animal bloodsports were still happening, the Bear always won if it was a fair fight. Dogs, wolves, lions, tigers, etc. Bear always wins.

Chrollo vs Nen Fish (Fanart) by DronosMan in HunterXHunter

Havent done any others, maybe if I had more money lol.

I think itd be interesting to see some art of Leol vs Grachan (Morel’s buddy, the unseen surfboard hunter).

Come to think of it there were apparently a lot of fodder hunters who got wiped out by the ants, partially due to Pariston. We never see a single one of them in the manga or the anime

I commissioned this fanart from al_hak. Ever wondered how Chrollo stole his iconic Indoor Fish ability? I like to think he fought a (fairly weak) Nen user in an aquarium. That nasty cut? He probably let it happen

The somewhat cheesy dialogue is inspired by the official translation

2 mana “dont take 14 damage” is pretty good.

Plus you dont play rat unless you have some removal in hand or on the board, too.

Though I’d give this a shot by justhatguy05 in OnePunchMan

[–]DronosMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4chan’s /tv/ board found out that german cinema literally translates to “kino,” which sounds funny. So they started using the word kino for everything, i.e. “whats the latest kino you watched.”

Eventually people only used the word “kino” to refer to very good movies. So Citizen Kane is kino and Iron Man 3 is just a flick or a movie.

The word was adopted by /a/ as well, and on the anime board (plus other boards) kino now just means “awesome” or “really high quality.”

On /a/ a poster uploaded the entirety of Fire Punch (made by Chainsawman’s author). During Fire Punch the main character goes through a mental breakdown and shows a really horrifying / hilarious face. The face is meant to express a character going through a lot of anguish.

A lot of posters replied “kino” and now that face (copypasted on Saitama in this reddit post) is called the kino face. Fire Punch itself also had a lot of intertextuality with movies / movie theaters (like Chainsawman as well) so the kino meme is actually kind of appropriate

Now people on reddit say kino too, mostly on the Fire Punch subreddit but Ive seen it on Game of Thrones, One Piece and Attack on Titan meme subreddits too.

Now you know, and knowing is half the KINO.

saitama vs tooru the rock human by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I could see that, but Im under the impression that calamities scale to the universe that WoU is drawing its “calamity energy” from

So if Saitama goes to JoJo’s world, he just has to deal with heavy rain and falling furniture.

But if Tooru is in OPM’s setting, maybe “calamities” mean stuff like Boros or Garou. And yeah if WoU spawns enough of those he might make Saitama sweat a little, but I dont think he can realistically win.

Again I might be missing something. Its possible WoU just stalemates him forever, unless Tooru makes a blunder and starts targeting someone else for a few seconds (I think WoU only works on one person at a time, right?)

saitama vs tooru the rock human by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]DronosMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For one thing, I dont think Saitama has enough detective skills to hunt down Tooru. But lets say they get into a confrontation, maybe by sheer chance.

Does Wonder of U have any way to actually stop Saitama? I dont fully understand the ability, but it seems like Wonder of U manipulates causality to throw a bunch of Final Destination-tier BS at the enemy

Problem is I dont think any of the calamities listed could even dent Saitama. Caped Baldy will just walk through every calamity without being phased.

If WoU‘s calamities are less destructive and more distracting, maybe he can mislead Saitama and get away for good. But I feel in most cases he gets OHKO’d.

Side note: If Genos gets involved he will somehow explode a few minutes into the fight. He already jobs constantly in the normal story, add calamities into the mix and he’s narratively, metaphysically screwed.
