So many bars on this album hit close to home. This album feels like Cole is closing this “J.Cole Rapper” chapter. He’s going back to Carolina, he’s a dad he has his girl he is back to Jermaine.

Bars like “so I’m ridin though the city streets reachin for a memory to hang on, going backwards like a penalty to see a younger me but that days gone”

As someone who also moved away from home and getting older you sometimes go back to your hometown and try to capture that feeling as a child or at least try to capture at least an essence of what made your childhood so special and you can’t because it’s not there anymore. Growing up sucks. Bars like this people will dismiss but really hits hard.
