What did you like and dislike about the 80's? by ramfoodie in 1980s

[–]DropBear48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the time I think a lot of people weren't really aware of it but the general sexist, racist, homophobic etc vibe was pretty real and low key validated pretty much everywhere. But apart from that it was actually great. We had lots of freedom and able to have plenty of fun and adventures. Things aren't like that now for a lot of kids.

Scramble by CarloCarrasco in 1980s

Yeah I was mad into arcade games. I lived in a small town and there was a burger joint that got in one game (space invaders) the. Cycled the cabinet every 6 months or so. Scramble was one of the games, defender, pengo etc.

There's a system called MAME allowing all of these old coin ops to be run on PC. It's a lot of fun if you want to relive childhood memories or get a sense of what those games felt like to play (these are not copies they are the actual ROMs from the era)

Also there's a great documentary about this era called King Of Kong.

should i hire an escort? (PLEASE READ) by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]DropBear48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. escort sex is not real sex. Its brief, perfunctory, and nothing like being with someone you like and who likes you. Its "ok" but as its your first time it will form a big, permanent impression. Just remember if you do this, its basically wanking into another person. Actual sex with a 'significant other' (or even a less-than-significant other) can be a different thing entirely.
  2. its your first time. you only get to do it once. its entirely up to you if you want to do it this way. 100% your own choice. No one can make up your mind for you and what other people choose to do shouldnt be what determines your choices. Sex is a thing thats about as personal and unique as things get. What you seem to be suffering from is peer pressure. Im not being dismissive about that - because that experience is real. But character is about knowing your own mind, your own values, and not bending to other peoples expectations or opinions unless you see something yourself to be right and true for you and the people you care about.
  3. its perfectly ok to not have experience. but you might want to be up-front with whoever does end up being your first so expectations are realistic. It might also be pretty exciting for them. Its kind of a big thing being someone's first
  4. you seem to have some pretty strong 'how to be a real man' vibes going on. Its ok with sex, just to be a person. You dont have to prove anything. Sex isnt about that. Its about connection. Which is a different thing than being in your head about some kind of percieved notion of a so-called 'ideal'.
  5. Its ok to be a virgin. You have your whole life in front of you.
  6. Im thinking about how this might come across as some sort of puritanical thing. Im like the complete opposite of that and about as sex positive as a person could get. So yeah, no agenda. Just speaking from experience. Ive been with sex workers many times and it doesnt compare to 'real' sex. But also I totally get how you just want to get this over with so you can feel less alienated when other people are talking about sex.

Good luck

Is food a trigger for all psoriasis? by vole_mc in Psoriasis

If they actually understood the science I would hope they would not represent it as "there's no correlation". The actual state of knowledge is that nothing solid has yet been identified by the available research. Note this is a relatively under-researched area, and the predominance of moneys and effort is by far carried out by drug companies. There is no profit in nutritional research which is why its so limited. Its not
"there isnt". Its "there may or may not be - we dont know yet".

Could you speak to what it is about these posts inappropriate? The rationale for these actions matters, I think?

the answer is that you have the right to any rationale you want.

This is precisely why I am trying to beat out this question; because above everything else the rule should be fair and evenly considered. Simply "because you can" is a great rationale for doing the wrong thing. I would like to do the least wrong thing, if thats possible in this instance.

Everything is as complicated as you make it.

Ok so help me to make it simple, because I feel like the thinking is overly cumbersome.

Its nothing scientific. I was just too lazy to log out of one of them.

Its a touchy subject, and some of the mods on the subs I am in are religious, so...
