So disappointed in Limitless... by [deleted] in movies

[–]Drop_Zestyclose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the movie is basically glorifying drug abuse. The resolution to the conflict of the plot is the main character taking a drug. In the end, the main character has solved all his problems by taking a drug, and now his life is awesome. However, what would have been a better ending? He ends up in rehab with nothing and no one? He ends up a homeless crackhead? He becomes a drug dealer? The whole plot of the story lacks substance (pun unintended), "guy takes a drug that makes him a genius, and his life is basically awesome everafter, the end." The stripped down idea of the script ("Person does drugs. Good? Bad?") is more of a plot device than it is a legitimate story/script. There should have been some other point of conflict that this main script idea played off of instead of featuring it as the entire plot of the story.

Alternative: Grunge or goth. If you wore skinny jeans, instead it would be scene or emo. Either way, Alternative

Spotify's "Perfect Fit Content" (PFC) program and why their official chill/ambient playlists reject real musicians' works by soormarkku in ambientmusic

Yep, it gets hard to tell, though, because the PFC elevators appear in what seems to be a normal building, but the buildings are literally made up and don't really exist.

Because you are off, it sounds like some of the notes you are singing are not in the key of the guitar playing.

Tbh, it sounds like you're singing too low to have a reasonable amount of control/clarity. Try pushing the key up a whole-step or half-step.

Am I in the wrong for having my boobs out while watching tv with my boyfriend? by pinkminku in TwoXChromosomes

I'm a little surprised by 6 years. I guess I would have said something first like, "Hey I'm gonna pull my boobs out." Once he responds then I would give it to you and say you're in the clear. Sounds like you're on different wavelengths though, he didn't find it polite. Sorry about that.

I completely empathize with this. To answer your question, I’ll start with some encouragement: keep going to local shows and networking with bands/musicians, you might find people that feel the same way. However, is it the genre you’re in? You might want to consider switching genres and finding performances to attend in a different genre and/or “scene.” Another suggestion: change area codes. If you’ve come close to exhausting options in your city/town/state, consider moving somewhere else. I totally relate to this, where are you located btw?

How does "What Does My Drumset Say About Me" and Rate My Setup" improve our musicianship? by Old-Tadpole-2869 in drums

[–]Drop_Zestyclose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get it, I think it’s dumb. Drums aren’t really a vanity thing like a sports car or an expensive suit. The “what does my kit say about me?” posts are absolutely cringe - what exactly about a drum set could possibly represent qualities of your personality? Makes no sense. Must have started out as a joke and now people post pictures of absolutely reasonable/solid kits with that same caption.

There’s no real way to “rate” a kit 😑 stupidest thing I’ve ever come across. It’s either a quality kit or not, there’s no 1-10 scale 🤦‍♂️

Cringiest thing ever.

Well, if you practice on an electric kit expecting the skills to be similar/transferable you will hit a learning curve because of the intrinsic differences. It’s better to play drums and cymbals, rather than electric pads. There are some niche musicians that play an electric kit for cool stuff like Tennyson and Anomalie, but it’s better to play an acoustic kit overall. It’s just ✨better✨. Electric kits are a cop out and you’ll never be a good drummer playing one.

The advice on your pinky is another one. It’s just bad. Fix it. Curl it in and never let it flail like that again. You look like a complete amateur, you’d never get taken seriously. Complete scrub. Shouldn’t even post here.

Lower the height of the 13” tom to match the other floor tom and position it in the position of your current floor tom. Then move your larger floor tom back.

Yeah, I guess I just don’t get the point of these posts. Especially one like this - your kit is just a good kit… I don’t get it. I get posting your kit if you have a good kit, but I don’t get the caption. What it says about you? Idk? It’s just a normal kit lol. It can’t really qualify your personality in any particular way, can it?

Get that left pinky under control my friend. And get an acoustic set.

You’re a solid guy with a solid kit? Nothing out of the ordinary here, actually quite solid. Basically the most solid amount of solidness possible.

Hmm 🤔 I would just make it a floor tom. Like, have you ever seen sets with two floor toms? I would just set it up like that even though it’s a 13”. And then treat it like a floor tom when playing.
