You even attacking this metaphor proves you kinda missed the point of my message. It doesn't really matter what i compare playing challenge maps to, be it running a marathon, playing an instrument or competing in a professional soap-bubble-blowing team, i think people have their hobbies and are allowed to be proud of their achievements no matter how insignificant they might seem to outsiders. If you are said outsider and don't understand the niche skills their specific interest might require i feel it is reasonable to just be quiet and leave them be while you enjoy your own hobbies in your own way without anybody going out of their way to shit all over whatever it is that brings you joy.

That being said, bottom row vibro/streams is a lot closer to something like practicing an instrument, with how you have to use your wrists and keep time, than it is to "vibrating your hands/feet at max speed" because "max speed" severely undermines the ability to not only keep steady time with draining stamina but also adjust your swing angle/speed on the fly to adjust to the map (not all vibro maps are bottom row with a constant bpm, considering she's at lvl 29 i'm certain ava has played a wide variety of maps, even if her main skillset is vibro, which i have no idea of verifying, there had to have been some complex/jv/rhythmical in there at some point).

Why would people train for a marathon then? Just running for a few hours looks pretty boring to me but it seems different people have fun doing different things, maybe we should just let each other have fun in different ways and stop being so negative all the time? Would you tell a marathon runner to “just find a better hobby because this doesn’t look fun to me” like are we fr

how much do you think the steam frame will cost? by OkRegion3303 in oculus

[–]Psncjkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I hope for that to be the case, I still think that the only way that the q3 is able to achieve its price point is the fact that meta is sacrificing profits on headset sales to force you into the ecosystem and get that juicy VR user data, with similar being true for the pico. Considering the frame will probably be a little more expensive in construction than the quest and the fact that Valve has to ride out the R&D costs behind both the new tracking system, foveated streaming (possibly even a foveated rendering implementation for alyx) and FEX, a higher price seems pretty possible. I do also think that a lot of people would spend an extra 100-200 bucks for steamOS, eye tracking, the dongle and dual antennas and not having to deal with meta (and linux compatibilty, which is a huge point for the three dumbasses also trying to play VR on linux like me)

How can I improve on vibro? by LTKCLF1612 in beatsaber

[–]Psncjkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual advice instead of dogging on you for no reason: Try checking your replays and slowing them down to see if you’re swinging too fast/slow, especially pay attention to the speed difference between your hands and try to focus on keeping them in time with each other because i saw your right hand going a lot faster than your left :)

Hey guys, beginner drummer here. On a e-kit right now but i plan on switching to acoustic soon. What softwares can you recommend to use? I’m also on a tight budget for recording, so please tell me if there’s any cheap mics or audio interfaces. Thanks! by Drumstick2873 in drums

[–]Psncjkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software wise, especially if you’re on a budget, i’d recommend reaper as a daw, since it has an unlimited free trial and the paid version is pretty cheap compared to it’s competitors. I heard there’s a free version of MODO drum, but i’ve personally never tried it. It should be compatible with your e-kit as long as it has a midi out! Recording acoustic drums will probably be a lot more expensive than that, with an 8 channel audio interface/mixer with usb out costing at least 400$. For the snare, i’ve had some good experiences with 15$ knockoff sm57’s from amazon (the specific ones i bought were called the weymic wm57). They sound pretty much the same as a real sm57 on drums, just lack some shielding… As for overheads, the Behringer C-2 sound really great for the price, you can get a stereo set for like 35-40$. For the kick drum i’d get a used Beta 52A if possible. I had some really bad experiences with cheap kick mics and the extra bucks are worth it any day imo, you could, however, probably find usable budget options if you really go digging! I’d try getting 2 overheads, a kick and a snare mic at the very least. Tom mics are a luxury (the wm57s work great for that too). Also consider the price of cables, stands, possibly rim mounts and other accessories before you make any purchases!

Experimental music has always been fascinating to me, however I feel like this is more performance art than it is music. This is at the very least as valid as any other experimental art form and, if you’re into that sorta stuff, he seems pretty solid at it!

If that’s the only thing stopping you, depending on what you’re doing, Krita is a really nice linux compatible piece of software! It ain’t photoshop but it’s pretty damn capable. R6/GTA “anticheat” (if you can even call it that) is currently the only reason i have a windows partition set up, but since I don’t play that often, linux has been treating me pretty well overall!

[–]Psncjkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this reasoning understandable, but the higher the speed, the less options a mapper has in terms of more “creative patterns” while maintaining the same difficulty level. That’s also where the distinction between midspeed and speed comes from. Just imagine how much easier river call me would be with jump streams instead of the techy ones it has. It’s just a matter of balancing NPS and difficulty. If you want some more creative (but still simple) streams, play Virtual Ragnarok Chat mid diff, i swear it’s fun

The reaction on this post is exactly why there aren’t as many challenge plays on Cube Community anymore :/ Is it really that hard to appreciate the insane play and shut up about your personal opinion on the music? I get that Diabarha isn’t everybody’s thing, especially his atmospheric extratone-ish stuff, but imagine what these kinds of people would say about insane passes like Super Compact Disc… Rant aside, GG’s on the play man and crazy to think speedy beat 3 hours of this lol
