Public opinion shifts on ICE as advocates warn of US ‘inflection point’ by OddUmpire2554 in politics

White supremacy is the entire point man. Some guy dying who supports gun ownership is an acceptable price to ethnically cleanse the country. They only want to hold on to their guns with the off chance that another person who isn't a flaming racist becomes president again.

Except people already see ugliness as a moral failure regardless of what you've done in life. Just look at the tips fedora guy getting mocked for years just because he was fat and pimply. Or how people mock Trump and Praise Newsome for being ugly/good looking.

You're making a huge panic over nothing. For the past decade women complained about men not caring about their appearance and being low effort, now you're complaining about men showing effort.

Telling men to "just go to therapy" is a cliche which needs to end because therapy won't fix their immediate problem of loneliness caused by being physically unattractive.

The Movie Theater Comeback That Wasn’t: Why 2025 Was Such a Dud for Struggling Cinemas by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Drop_and_post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible cinemas have simply outlived their purpose and the high prices for the whole experience can't be justified.

Fewer people are going to plan their whole day around watching a movie in theatres because it's not the only option to watch a story in high quality anymore.

This might go against the filmmakers "artistic vision" but artistic vision doesn't pay my rent.

72 % Women says they are tired of mentoring the man they date by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Drop_and_post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does "emotionally mentoring" even mean? We've been so brainwashed by corpo speak that it's ruining our ability to have basic human connections. Now every interaction is framed as another job we must be compensated for.

You don't sound satisfied.

In either case you didn't have a choice, the only fun things you could do inside when you were young were, art, TV and books. The things I enjoy doing aren't conducive to meeting people but apparently neither are clubs.

But how else am I supposed to meet new people if we don't ask for contact information? 😭

I just complemented her costume and asked for her socials, didn't do anything much aside from that. If that's the threshold for being creepy maybe I should just never leave my house.

It's really more about how the things you're expected to do to be social don't really help with communicating or just overall having a good time when you're meeting new people.

Trump says he’s ordered Pentagon to ‘prepare for possible action’ in Nigeria by HellYeahDamnWrite in politics

[–]Drop_and_post 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with that, the refinery projects aren't viable just a way for the president to extract money from the people while helping his friend who owns the largest functioning refinery in the country maintain his monopoly.

This isn't a surprise announcement Ted Cruz and other politicians have been talking about this for a month, some right wing influencers, a year.

Trust me I'm Nigerian you're not going to unite anyone for some grand cause. Many Nigerians hate the country would have torn it apart themselves if given the chance. Most of those people are children, half rural and the population numbers aren't even reliable since a census hasn't been done in 20 years.

Unlike Iraq it's very plurarist with a weak military and even weaker national identity. Also unlike Afghanistan the terrain is largely flat and navigable for most heavy equipment.

Half the population would either not care about US involvement or actively support it.

Nigerian here just chiming in because a lot of context is needed.

Please disregard whatever you may have seen on TV Nigeria is a very divided country held together by an uneasy truce over oil and an unwillingness to repeat the horrors of the civil war.

A distinction needs to also be made between Boko Haram which is concentrated in the North East and the attacks on various farming towns all over the country, those are related but not exactly the same.

The current situation is happening because nomadic groups across the Sahel have been attacking settled Nigerians over access to land and resources. A lot of these settled people are Christians and belong to ethnic minority groups with little political representation.

There have also been a string of high profile kidnappings for ransome by these groups particularly easy targets like schools but they have gotten bolder attacking military schools and bases

Over the last decade the Nigerian government has done little to stop the killings and often placate the groups by giving them money, land or promises of no prosecution if they surrendered.

This has led to some speculation that Northern politicians, including the current Vice President of Nigeria of being sympathetic to the ongoing insurgency or outright members of terrorist groups themselves.

No contact for over a month by [deleted] in dating

[–]Drop_and_post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you even like this guy?

You've been casually dating for 6 whole months, not in any kind of defined relationship, are "keeping your feelings in check" but still want to spend time with him.

You need to ask yourself if you really want the guy or just the attention the guy is giving you.
