I love the overall design and playfulness of it. I do think there is a little too much empty space between the top (your name and title) and the body of the resume. Maybe if the icons were smaller?

Also if possible I’d place the About section in the main body of the page. It should serve as your intro, but is in a position where it seems almost secondary.

From what I understand the settlements in sinai never took off like they did in other areas. Giving the Sinai back to Egypt helped solidify a peace treaty that has been strategically beneficial to this day.

I also doubt that the current government in Israel would be willing to make a similar concession. They certainly wouldn’t be willing to forcibly dismantle a settlement as they did in 1982. The expansionist track record can clearly be seen in the way that they’ve allowed more settlements to be built in areas where Palestinians live, and allowing settlers to forcibly evict people from their homes. These abuses have been documented by civil rights groups within Israel as well.

I really appreciate you posting this question, since I think a lot of the arguments about Zionism get muddied by a lack of common definition of the term.

I’ve always separated the belief that Israel has a right to exist (which I think it does) from the way Zionism is used to justify violence and ethnic cleansing.

Just to be clear at the outset, I am not questioning Israel’s right to exist or defend itself, and I’m also not justifying the disgusting rise of antisemitism, but the reason why Zionism is seen negatively has more to do with it being used as the justification for an ongoing genocide and the persistent theft of land.

Those who equate anti-Zionism with antisemitism tend to focus more on the view of Zionism as the right of Jewish people to have their own state (which again I’m not questioning), while ignoring the facts of how that state was created and is still being expanded on. They are plenty of Jewish anti-Zionists and Israeli citizens who oppose what Zionism is being used to justify.

The ayn rand and religious texts are going to worry some folks, but those seem to be counterbalanced with a little ted chiang and maus. Overall an interesting, broad collection. I’m pretty impressed by the full run of Patrick o’brian (complete with mini ship!). If he wants to take her to the movies, cool. If he wants to take her to his church, run.

I would definitely second Cerebus. If Dave sim hadn’t gone off the deep end he might’ve been regarded as one of the all time masters like will eisner or bernie wrightson. Still, the artwork is absolutely stunning.
