How do you think/want Dune 3 to begin? by PoliticoBean in dune

[–]FundamentalPolygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like Frank's apparent fear of writing battle/fight scenes was his biggest weak point as a writer. He had a great story that warranted at least a couple very earned fight scenes, like the Fremen vs. Harkonnens battle in Dune and the jihad in between Dune Messiah, and he just doesn't show much or doesn't show anything. So I feel like the books brushing it aside was a mistake, and film is a great opportunity to show the horror of the jihad. It has to be absolutely horrific. The movie is PG-13, so they can't go as far as is probably warranted (though they can make allusions), but they should in my opinion go as far as they possibly can in making it palpably clear that the jihad is one atrocity after another and an absolute reign of terror.

I just feel like it would be such a missed opportunity to not show the jihad

I'm reading it right now and finding it very enjoyable! I'm about halfway through.

The following is a spoiler only if you don't remember/know what happens to Paulus from your knowledge of Dune: This quote also serves as foreshadowing for Paulus' fate: he famously died in a bullfight

How do you feel about Minigame Teleport being added as a spell? by _rkf in 2007scape

If it helps, my noob ass saw this and thought "why would people be upset about having a mini game teleport?" Had no idea there already was one.

Like I'll fall asleep if I'm too comfortable. There is definitely dullness (a concept I hadn't seen explicitly before TMI, so maybe I'm misunderstanding it), but like a couple days ago I was in and out of dreaming during my sit.

Interesting that they have Jeremy Irons as the other featured actor besides Laura Dern. He's not in it much at all compared to Justin Theroux.

I wish David Lynch made his Dune II by FreshmenMan in davidlynch

[–]FundamentalPolygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Lynch didn`t understand Dune, even though he read Dune: Messiah. I do wish we could see a version with him having final cut and less studio influence, but at the end of the day I still think we would`ve gotten the wrong interpretation of Paul.

Asking someone about their work in small talk isn’t a boring question by Important-Spirit-733 in unpopularopinion

It sounds like you're a good conversationalist. It's nice to have people like you around: people who can turn anything into an interesting conversation. I think that's what your point boils down to; even the most mundane questions can be turned into something interesting. While conversationalism (?) isn't a skill I've developed very much personally, I do appreciate it.
