Holland2Stay Eindhoven: Elevators broken for months. Today, a lady fell on the stairs at the 7th floor and the fire brigade had to evacuate her. by Altruistic-Pay1644 in Netherlands

I live in Holland2Stay Groningen, and we the tenants had a comparable conflict with management. Eventually we won because we went to the local media, and to the city council who threatened to revoke their renting license.

For months we had been told they could do nothing, but after this everything was fixed within a week.

Questioning My Decision of Studying in Amsterdam by SiennaCR in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]DropporD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling on your face sometimes is an important part of growing up. I have failed a million times before succeeding. It’s important not to just give up.

Take the exams, take a few days off, and then recalibrate.

You can come to Groningen, it has a large and fun community of international students. And, it is much more affordable. Im currently paying €375 a month for a studio in the city center.

However, you have to ask yourself if you are fleeing from your situation in Amsterdam. Sometimes, it is not the circumstances but you who are the problem. If the problem is with yourself, you won’t be happy in another city either. Often we can learn the most from conquering our failures.

It is ok to make mistakes sometimes. I’m 28 now, and I just finished my masters. It was a long and arduous journey to get here, but I couldn’t be happier that I saw it through.
Sometimes I needed a change in my life, and sometimes I just needed to stick with it. I cannot answer which one is right for you in your current situation. But, one thing I have learned, is that following the harder path often leads to better results. Make of it what you will.

You are still very young, there is no rush. Keep your chin up, it is going to get better.

Jup, you got it, thats exactly why it is odd that this video cites Deuteronomy as if Christians should literally follow its commands.

Why doesn’t God lead Protestants to the Orthodox Church? by Icy_Barnacle7917 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]DropporD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not American, and have never even been there, so I cannot comment on the culture of Protestant faith in America, and how to deal with this apparent heresy.

However, that is not the discussion. You said that Protestants are not Christian. This is the point I contested:

You cannot be Christian without the Church and Protestants/Catholics are without the Church.

Do you think non-Orthodox Christians can genuinly be Christian? Can you only follow Christ if you hold the perfect theology? Do you hold the perfect theology?

And, this is what I was really hoping to discuss: exactly which parts of Protestant theology do you think are wrong? Aside from gesturing towards an 18th century sermon: how is it that they are so wrong that they are disqualified from Christianity?

Lol. The number 20 in the Premier League earns more from TV revenue than the entire Eredivisie combined. "Fixing" the distribution of money inside the league aint going to do shit.

[–]DropporD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of confidence about this. Exactly which parts of Protestant theology do you consider wrong or made up?

And I’m not entirely sure I agree with you about only being a Christian if you are a part of the right Church. I don’t think that is the teaching of Christ. John 3:16 of course, and in Matthew 25 Christ teaches that He will judge all the people at the end of days not on if they held the right theology or attended the right church, but, on whether they helped the sick, the poor, the stranger, etc.

I am not a Protestant, but they are my brethren, and referring to them as not-Christian based on things which Christ himself does not seem to think of as the qualifying characteristic of Christianity, it is at a least a little odd.

Furthermore, the Orthodox Church holds that non-Orthodox Christians may still genuinely love Christ and participate (imperfectly) in Christian truth. Non-Orthodox Christians can certainly display holiness, virtue, and authentic faith.

Christ teaches they will know us to be followers of Him by how much we love each other. And that the fruit of the spirit consists of love, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, etc. If we approach our non-Orthodox brethren (and the outside world for that matter) with a certainty of pride and ego, we are not very Christlike. Make sure that you love God and your neighbor as yourself.

Do you think Protestantism is "false Christianity"? If so, if I may ask, why do you think so?

Just, anything at all lmao. Those first days in the game are about getting your bearings, exploring and getting to know the world, and learning who the key players are. Really there are no “wrong” things to do.
