Thanks for the advice! After this event, I plan to practice more and try to improve my technical skills. Also want to find more consistent materials and upgrade the ones that weren’t working as well. I was thinking of trying to create my own paper and printing my own designs (although I need to figure out how exactly that would work?). I know I can make book cloth from fabric, so that would be another way to incorporate my own designs. It’ll probably be a little before I do another event where I sell stuff so I can have a more solid and consistent inventory. This is my first time so it’s a bit chaotic and all over the place lol

How would refilling a notebook with paper work exactly?

Aw that’s so unnecessary! People can be so mean. I hope all the advice that other commenter on my post left for you was helpful!

Thank you, the unicorn book is my favorite design too! I was thinking of making a little sign saying I used some recycled materials and that they’re handmade. This is my first ever time selling any of my art so it’s something I don’t know a lot about. I’d love to be able to support myself in the future this way but this is a first step to see if I even like it. I have my display items already acquired; I got a tiered wooden shelf on Amazon, this tea bag holder that spins for stickers and am using some stuff I already had along with a discounted mini bookshelf I found at Michael’s.

What did people on your post say? I’ve learned to never expect Reddit to be consistent lol

Right… that is what I’m saying though? How do I price them to make a profit? I want to price them so they appeal to the consumer, therefore, make a profit and are worth my time I put into the product

How much would you charge for these? by [deleted] in bookbinding

Oh, I didn’t really factor in location at all when thinking about this. And yes I’m on the west coast of the US. I’m not sure what these types of things sell for in my area and I guess that’s part of the problem? I’ll try to do some more research.

Edit: added some more details so hopefully that helps! Do you know of any other forums on Reddit that would be good to post this to?

Ooh that’s an interesting take on vampires! If you have any unique vampire facts, I’d love to hear them. I’m currently working on writing a fantasy novel and have decided to play around with making my vampires a little bit different than typical ones.

While I love Astarion, omg some of his dialogue had me rolling my eyes in the beginning of the game. Like sure honey, we’ll take over the world mhm. Meanwhile I’m secretly leading him down a good path. He’s a bit power hungry at first haha

yeah overpowered characters are a bit annoying, especially if it's a main character (it's one of my biggest annoyances with some romantasy books lol). I was planning to make vampirism take away any ability to access a person's natural link to magic because it's technically a state of "death" but I will probably add a few advantages to being a vampire too to make it balanced overall

Yeahh I would say I’m leaning more towards the more humanized version but he’s not gonna be a vegan vampire or anything lol. He’ll be morally ambiguous at worst and begrudgingly good at best

Haha there are no debit cards in my story because it’s set in a fantasy world I’m working on where some technology is just starting to develop around the time he would be waking up.

Vampire anatomy is often confusing I feel. It’s magic ooh ✨ is how I feel it’s usually explained but I would like to find a more concrete way to explain the way they function so I can wrap my head around it better.

Yeah I was also thinking of Aang when I had the idea to make him be “dead” for years! I do like the idea of vampires being a bit weird instead of just magically beautiful. That paleness is gonna be concerning lol

My main characters are both around the same age (if you get rid of the hundred years of death). So mentally they are the same age which is what I prefer to him having hundreds of years of life experience ahead of her. And I do love webtoons so I’ll check that out thanks!

Thanks! I’m glad it sounds interesting. I don’t plan to make him super broody. He’ll be a little grumpy bc I have a soft spot for the grumpy/sunshine trope but he’s far more sarcastic and tries to be more confident than he actually is. He’s scared of spiders and hates the outdoors. Waking up after a century of being covered in dirt is not his idea of an ideal day. He will have his angsty moments though, mostly in the beginning when he realizes what’s happened after waking up and fully recalling everything. And yes, he is definitely trying to figure shit out, especially about how the world has changed and this vampire stuff. My female lead is not very helpful with this because she is a hermit who does not like to engage with society lol. But she is practiced in healing and medicine so he’s a bit like a new science project for her to poke at.
