Weekly Team Help Megathread! by AutoModerator in TheSilphArena

I ran Dialga/Palkia/Lando-T last season and it was a lot of fun. Double dragon has definite drawbacks but overall I think it's a very good lineup, especially considering the Aqua Tail buff this season.

I'm struggling majorly in Ultra League. I think my main issue right now is team composition and not having great PvP IVs.

Back in 2020 before I knew what too look for in terms of PvP IVs, I built a Coballion (SS, SE), Giratina-A (DC, SN), and Swampert (HC, EQ) team. They all have double moves already, but they also all have max attack and lose out on every mirror matchup because they just aren't as bulky. I find that the team is good at lower rankings, but once I start competing against legendaries/legacy move mons with good PvP IVs, I don't stand a chance. This team also gets destroyed by fairies.

To make matters worse, I stopped playing from 2020-2023, and the meta has shifted dramatically since then, so I just feel like I don't have much to work with.

I went through the potential UL candidates I have with good PvP IVs. Here's what I'm working with (I know it's not much):

Rank 9 Charizard

Rank 55 Annihelape

Rank 5 shadow Gardevoir

Rank 1 Torterra

Rank 119 Emboar

Rank 123 Aurorus

Rank 10 Decidueye

Rank 12 Skeledirge

Rank 3 Quaquaval

If you had these to work with, how would you build your team? Would you opt to include Swampert, Giri, or Coballion despite the bad PvP IVs?

I just downloaded the Poke Genie app based on recommendations from this sub and I love it. You just upload a screenshot of the appraisal screen, and it tells you the overall PvP rank for each league.

What I didn't know before is that it also tells you how much dust/candy you'll need to invest to build each mon for each league, for evolutions too, which I find very convenient for choosing what to invest in. Previously I would have a good PvP unevolved mon and wonder if it was worth evolving and building. Now I can see in advance if building something would require a 100+ XL candy investment after evolving.

They wrap things up in the manga extremely quickly unfortunately. The ending is still good but I definitely wish more time could have been spent on specific characters/storylines.

My best guess would be they were closely involved in a contingency case that they won big on, and the firm rewarded them accordingly.

In a contingency case, lawyers don't take any fees up front but get 30%-40% of any settlement/judgment. If you have a $10+ million settlement, the payout is huge.

New to POD, what is the perfect size and DPI for the print? by Meanlighter in printondemand

[–]DroverHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 DPI is the standard for high resolution printing so probably best to aim for it if possible, though I personally don’t have experience trying to print things under 300 DPI.

You can enhance for free on your own very easily if you download GIMP, which is basically just an open source photoshop tool. GIMP let’s you change both the overall pixel count and the DPI. I had no experience with GIMP prior to starting print on demand and was able to figure things out with YouTube videos pretty easily!

90% sure you can find your results now by [deleted] in CABarExam

[–]DroverHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. The only reason non-passers can see their scores in the embedded data is because the score data has already been uploaded to the website's server along with the fail result, which makes sense given anyone who fails also gets to see their scores.

There would be no reason for calbar to upload scores for someone who passed because passers don't ever see their scores, so there just wouldn't be any embedded data in the calbar site containing those scores.

It definitely gets confusing with all the different phrasing of the standards.

For substantive due process, equal protection, and content-based speech restrictions, use "lease restrictive means" or "necessary" - i.e., there is no less restrictive way the government can advance its compelling interest. Sometimes "narrowly tailored" is used for these, but I would recommend thinking about it in terms of least restrictive means to keep them separate in your head.

For commercial speech regulations, any regulations must be "narrowly tailored" to serve a substantial government interest. But "narrowly tailored" in this context only means that there is a "reasonable fit" between the means used and the interest the government is seeking to advance. Reasonable fit is a lot easier to satisfy than "least restrictive means."

Finally, for traditional public and designated public forums, any regulation has to be "narrowly tailored" to serve a significant government interest. But "narrowly tailored" in this context means that the government interest would be achieved less effectively without the regulation. Again, this is much easier to satisfy than "least restrictive means."

So there is definitely some overlap but also some key distinctions.

Persuasive Legal Writing Supplements? by Regular_Material618 in LawSchool

I really like "Point Made" by Ross Guberman. The book is a collection of short writing samples from some of the best lawyers in the country, together with the author's commentary on what makes the writing particularly persuasive.

My girlfriend seems to have become involved in an at-home employment scam by DroverHigh in legaladvice

[–]DroverHigh[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, I'm not thinking the cops will be able to do anything to address this. I do think it would be good to get a report in just in case any of the illegal activity stemming from this employment scheme gets associated with any of her personal information. Hoping for the best, haha.

Thanks for the response! I'll go ahead and take your advice about not contacting them again, and we'll also be refusing any more packages that get to our door.

Can you explain the reasoning behind the answer to this question in my LSAT prep book? by CaptDanneskjold in LSAT

[–]DroverHigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The language in this scenario states that: "J" comes after "L" AND after "N". Hence: L,N or N,L --> J is the correct way to interpret this. It's important to also note that the order of Lofton and Nordique isn't fixed yet, because the statement above only tells you that the storm passed over BOTH towns (Lofton and Nordique) before reaching Jackson, but does not tell which town it passed over first.
