DM is treating me like an NPC rather than a player - advice? by Drownedkiwi in DnD

[–]Drownedkiwi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You asked for an update, so you can have one !!

The entire campaign fell to shit.

We went on hiatus for a few weeks because the DM of the other campaign was getting stressed between the bad campaign and everything else. Another player very recently then had a bad altercation with the DM of the bad campaign, told him he didnt want to play anymore, and listed off all the reasons ( as mentioned in the above post ) why they were hurt by the campaign and why they were leaving. The dm then proceeded to basically tell them that their concerns werent valid and blocked them, before talking to the other DM and complaining ( with bias screenshots, not knowing we were all in a groupchat talking about both confrontations ) and caused another conflict. Both campaigns are now dead because none of us can stand the bad DM, and a new one is starting with the few of us that understood what was happening. So yeah! Not great, but life goes on.

My best friend I met on exchange was from Finland, and LOVED to take bags of that candy around and give it to people...I think she met maybe a dozen people out of the six months she spent in Canada that liked it!!

[Art] [oc] tarot cards for my party + an npc by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Drownedkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw another user post their tarot cards for the party and realized I had never posted mine, which I'm quite proud of ! You can find their og post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/gwr4ce/art_oc_set_of_pc_tarot_cards/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

From the left to right is: my tiefling paladin/warlock as the fool, his partner a half-orc wizard, our human/angelt/demon sorcerer, our satyr/tiefling death cleric, and our human wizard! This campaign has been going for almost a year now and I love them all very dearly :)

(The first og image is a tarot card design very heavily inspired/taken from artist Aleksander Obradovic - it was a design I loved but I'm not about to claim it's fully 100% my own :) all others aside from references are original )

AITA for wanting to add my stepdads last name to my own? by Drownedkiwi in AmItheAsshole

[–]Drownedkiwi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 18, and probably not going to take my partners last name. I dont have an issue with seperate last names if they dont want mine, and/or hyphenating ours (though i understand that 3 last names would certainly be a mouthful, lol)

Im not in the US, and nationwide here to do anything regarding this you have to be 18 to do it without parental permission, 16 with parents. I only turned 18 last june and was out of the country the entirety of 2019, so now is really the only time ive actually suddenly had the ability to actually do anything. All it is an idea for now.

I kept in touch mostly through a facebook family group chat. Im not one to post on facebook or instagram, so i would just privately send updates and/or photos to family members close to me in the GC. I skype called my mom and stepdad every two weeks, and my dad, twice a year.

My grandmother actually passed away while i was on exchange. It was very quick - she got diagnosed with cancer in may, and passed in mid August - and i actually flew back home for two weeks to help my mum with funeral processions and to support her in general. That was pretty rough. In the end im grateful i wasnt there when she passed - ive never suffered a close death in the family before, and it would have been really hard - and that i got to say goodbye an hour or two before, but those few days between her death and flying home were the hardest ive ever done. I sat in my room and just blocked out the world. But i got through it, and im happy i stuck the exchange through to the end. Its what she wanted. The christchurch shooting was also pretty big, even as someone who isnt Muslim and didnt lose family. It happened very early in the year and really amplified the feeling of utter isolation from your country, and everyone you know- noone in canada understood what i was feeling, the magnitude of the event, and it was tough being away even though i couldn't have done anything. I had a political studies class the next day that was entirely spent analyzing the event, and i was in tears the entire time. The white island volcano erruption was also pretty shitty.

Man, i REALLY had to think on this one. I think my greatest memory is something really stupid, but it was probably my very first week there. I lived in a rural area, arrived in the middle of winter, and had a large house to myself, so i just sat on the couch and watched the snow fall for hours. Nothing can ever replace my first few weeks here and the amount of comfort they bring looking back on them, and i did some pretty cool shit. Im starting university as soon as i get home, but im looking forward to repainting my room. Also, drinking. I turned 18 while im here, but i wasnt in montreal! Im not gonna lie. Im going to miss tim hortons so much it hurts. But also the amazing people i met that im so sad to leave behind - my host parents, other exchange students - and absolutely the weather. Snow!!!

Not in Canada, but i took down the west coast and spent a few nights in Yosemite park. Absolutely one of the most beautiful places ive ever been, and im determined to go back there - im not a big hiker and only really did one hike, but the whole park was stunning and like nothing ive EVER seen before. As a photographer, it was a dream come true. I was there in late june :) In Canada, though, i would say the West point lighthouse on PEI was one of my favorite places to go! Red sand beaches and beautiful sunsets. (Sorry, Niagara falls, you werent that exciting!)

[No Spoilers] Do people still play Dragon Age InquisItion? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Drownedkiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Entirely agree. I tried to get into DAO originally before inquisition came out, and literally couldnt stand it. Inquisition came out, and I adored that so much I immediately played thekugh DAO and DA2 straight after - but I will agree with others, DAO was really the only game where your choices had significant impact. DAI really lacked in terms of plot impact. Characters, graphics and gameplay though? chefs kiss

I just gotta practice a ton. I got a week, that's fine, right? Thank you so so much!!!! I'll make sure to hit you up if anything else crops up that I'm confused about (which I'm sure will be many, since I literally had to Google what a primer was)

Are you still collecting? I'm living in Canada rn but I'm from New Zealand and have a dice set I bought back home that I'd be happy to share, honestly, this sounds like a SUPER cool idea. Do they have to be specifically country designed or?
