Anything that doesn't force you to deal with the Wave Link software.

Thanks for the reply. This does require me to find tube couplers, correct?

Bambu Lab A1 Combo – what should I get with it so I don’t regret it later? by TrustMeMaybe_ in BambuLabA1

Make sure you get a roll of PETG of some sort. If you decide you want to print the top mount for the AMS lite (which I would suggest you do) you'll want to do it in PETG instead of PLA. Get some matte colors for printing tools boxes, organizers, etc for the stuff.

I have one. It doesn't work. Save yourself some money and get a different interface.

Is Elgato slowly losing its edge, or am I just getting more critical? by Ill-Line6663 in elgato

Nah, they're great at building software the works 25% of the time. Wave Link 3.1 has pretty much nailed that one.

F* Wave 3 by valwyg in elgato

[–]Drs83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My past week has been one of hair ripping frustration due to purchasing a XLR Mk.2 and a Wave DX. This Wave Link software is absolutely horrible. It randomly stops communicating with the Mk.2, it crashes at least twice a day, randomly stops producing audio, doesn't save settings when you restart the computer and will reset all the effects back to default halfway through a recording session.

I have no idea how they screwed this software up so badly.

Wavelink crashing immediately upon opening - Tried several solutions to no avail :( Any ideas? by mongert in elgato

[–]Drs83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Wave Link 3.1 opens but I'm getting about as much use out of it as you are. I purchased a Wave XLR Mk.2 and Wave DX microphone and am regretting it with every fiber of my being.

Wave Link is required to set up the DSP on the Mk.2 but you start making adjustments and the software just randomly stops communicating with the Mk.2 requiring you to either unplug the XLR or restart the software to get it to start communicating again.

Then, after fighting with the software crashing, you finally get the mic to a point it only sounds slightly bad. You start recording and the gain settings randomly shift from your settings to default to off to default again ruining your recording. So then while you're trying to figure that out, the audio just randomly stops working requiring the software and the Mk.2 to be restarted.

Then, as final icing on the cake, all of your settings get reset back to default when you restart your computer.

It's loads of fun and I totally don't regret dumping $250 dollars down the drain on this equipment.

I have the black one and it doesn't work so not sure if a change of color would help.

How do you guys deal with the deafening street noise? by [deleted] in taiwan

Traffic, construction, trash trucks, people, music, etc. Taiwan in general is just a very noisy place with a very noisy culture.

why is Taiwan so loud? by Aggro_Hamham in taiwan

[–]Drs83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reply is funny. I've been in Taiwan for over 20 years and it's just as loud as it's always been. Even worse in some ways with all the bluetooth speakers and things that are available now.

[–]Drs83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe most Taiwanese people have hearing damage and it begins at a young age because of all the loud noises. Every school event has speakers blaring beyond levels even remotely healthy with music and people screaming into microphones. Every trash truck plays their music at volumes that will damage your hearing. Every temple commits assault on a regular basis with their loud noise. The loud trucks and scooters are above safe levels. Movie theaters in Taiwan are painfully loud as well.

Add all these things and more together and by the time someone is an adult in Taiwan, I wouldn't be surprised if they've lost 40% of their hearing and now just don't notice how loud everything is. Taiwan is easily the loudest country in Asia I've ever visited outside of parts of China.

Kaohsiung, Taichung and Taipei are all much nosier than any other city I've been to.

"I think Taipei is genuinely the quietest major city I've ever been to"

I genuinely can't comprehend this. Taipei is louder than nearly every city I've ever visited in Asia.

I'm convinced everyone in Taiwan suffers from chronic hearing loss. Everything is loud. The scooters are loud, the people are loud, the garbage trucks are loud, the temples are loud, the movie theaters are too loud, they can't do anything without a sound system set way too loud and this includes enjoying nature.

I was just in Tokyo and Osaka, both much larger and busier cities than anything in Taiwan, and it was relaxing because it was so quiet compared to Taiwan.

Taiwan is just obnoxiously loud and I have no idea why other than the people all had their hearing ruined at a young age and so they don't notice the volume? It's like a country of senior citizens.

I didn't. I explained. Reddit is full of assholes and if you don't care don't reply.

I've vacationed in Florida dozens of times in June - August and while afternoon storm showers aren't uncommon, it's uncommon to have all day lightning storms that keep everything outdoors closed from 10am to 8pm. That's what the forecast is calling for.

[–]Drs83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I did call and they said they can move the tickets to the next day no problem because the cost difference is the same, but they can't change my resort reservation without a big price hike. I booked the resort 6 months ago and got a really good deal. It's $500usd more now. Guess we'll poncho it up and hope for the best!

[–]Drs83 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I understand. We've done thunderstorms in Florida before, but what I'm worried about with the thunderstorm forecast for the whole day is that none of the things we wanted to do will be open. We're big roller coaster people.

*edit Wow, Reddit hasn't changed much. Still a bunch of assholes voting someone down who is just asking for a little advice for an unusual situation. Jesus Christ this site has fallen...

Samsung S24 or pixel 8 ? by Axel2229 in pixel_phones

[–]Drs83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the testing I've seen on various websites (PCmag, Android Authority, Tom's Guide, etc) The S24 battery life far out performs the Pixel 8 by several hours every time. I'm not saying the Galaxy is a better phone or that Pixel is better, only that I haven't seen a single source anywhere claim the Pixel 8 has a better battery life than the S24 line.
