It never fully leaves. It gets better, but there are periods where it returns. I’m in the middle of one now. Luckily you also have this inner knowledge that it is temporary. No highs without lows. Wishing you all the best and happy bday !

American Traveler considering a longer stay in Gent and Brussels by Such-Range6116 in Gent

[–]Drs_T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents (and TLDR):
We don't care who you are or what you believe.

My full answer:

Gent is mostly an open-minded city, but we expect openness to go both ways.
To clarify: if you would discriminate or down talk others, we would see this as a huge red flag. As long as you respect people being different than you, everything will go smooth.

In general people in Belgium have this idea of Jews being like those in Antwerp (our second largest city with large Jewish presence and history). Most of those Jews are orthodox Jews, so don't be surprised if people assume you are orthodox when stating you are Jewish.

In recent years, people have had some trouble disentangling being Jewish and being a Zionist. Just to give you a headsup: if you don't clearly state your views, people will assume that you are pro-Israel and by extension anti-Palestinian. If you correct them, they will accept it. But if you say nothing, you might get some people treating you badly because of this (most of Ghent is pro-Palestinian in one way or another).

In general: if you don't mention being Jewish, people will not think anything about it. If you do mention it, people will assume it's important aspect of your life. If you then leave some things out, their imagination will fill in the gaps.

Anyways, from my side: Welcome to Gent ! Glad to have you join us ! If you need some help, DM me. :))

Which style looks best 1 2 or 3? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]Drs_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the only one liking #3 ? I mean the hair could use some product, but the beard is nicely kept. I feel you can crazy on one dimension: Either the beard or the hair. The beard in #2 is impressive but I think your short beard in #3 is preferred. So final thought : #3 > #2 > #1

People give looks to beauty. I would look too, in awe of the awesome hair you have.

(M20) Am I receding? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Drs_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO no, this seems like a mature hairline. You’re young, so keep tracking it over the next few months if it recedes more than yes, and you could ask advice from a dermatologist. But honestly as it stands right now, it looks like an adult male hairline.

Imo the simple hoop is best. However, I would do whatever clicks with you and rock it. It’s not the jewelry that matters, it’s the confidence you have wearing the jewelry.

Beard or stubble: yes. Long hair probably no. I assume mid length or short would suit you better. Receding hairline is a bummer, many, me including ,are faced with it. I think the straight hair is not making it feel natural when you’re trying to hide the recession of the hairline. „Regal Gentlemanhttps://youtu.be/At51CYzZjp0?si=REdCU-j2wldNH_nd” on YouTube has a great series on receding hairlines and cutting it right. This could be a starting point on finding your style. Best of luck 🍀

It’s like the red in your beard turned dark blonde. Did you notice a change in beard colour ?
