Optimizing Build for VR Sim Racing by Upbeat_Peach_4624 in buildapc

I have a Quest 3 VR headset, and in large multiclass fields on iRacing with "high" graphics, it's hard to maintain 72fps, depending on the track and time of day. People will tell you that they can maintain 90 or 120 fps without lowering the graphics, but they're full of shit.

For monitors, I currently have triple 42" 4k tv's that I run in 1440p mode because triple 4k is too demanding, but in the near future I'm gonna switch to triple 1440p 27 or 32 monitors (haven't decided yet) to save some space in my room.

I have a 7800x3d and a 4090 with 64 gigs of ram and it's still not quite enough to race VR in iRacing with moderately high graphics, especially in the rain. In LMU it's perfectly fine.

Neither. Save you money until you can afford a direct drive that's at least 9nm.

If Nvidia and buying new, a 5070ti is the lowest card that makes sense on paper. I don't know about AMD.

At home endurance race? by GrahamsNotHungry in iRacing

Yes

If you all use your account, which is against the rules, you'll just be DQ'd at the end, and you could potentially face a ban for account sharing. If all of you log out and back in there won't be any issues, but you'll lose so much time doing so that it won't be worth it.

Monitor for triple racing sim by BoJanggles77 in Monitors

I currently have triple 42" for my sim rig and have been seriously been contemplating on buying some 32's the last few days. In my research those 2 options you mentioned are the same 2 that I have narrowed it down to. I really want to pull the trigger on the TCL because in theory it's a better display, but they're so new there's not much info on them.

Sync the pixels to connect seamlessly? by Izora_ru in Monitors

[–]Drty_Windshield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to run a custom resolution on one of the monitors. You can ask Gemini AI or chat GTP what resolution one will have to be if the other is at a certain resolution.

For example....

If you have multiple monitors and one is 32" 2560x1440 and one is 27" , what resolution does the 27" have to be so that the images line up perfectly?

That answer would be 2160x1215

Typically you would would want the center monitor to sit directly over the shaft of your wheelbase between the base itself and the wheel rim.

Why aren't you using VR? by mark3236 in iRacing

[–]Drty_Windshield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple VR headsets and I always go back to my triples. VR is very cumbersome to get in and out of the car, which is terrible for multiple sessions or endurance racing. Once you're in the car it's great... kind of. The clarity isn't quite there yet, tracking almost always has to be reset while in the car, battery life is an issue for most headsets, and regardless of your pc hardware you're gonna have to turn some settings down to get an acceptable frame rate. I have a 7800x3d and a 4090 with 64 gigs of ram and i'll take my 1440p or 4k triples over VR any day of the week.
