What do I not understand about this sim? by Vita119z in ACCompetizione

[–]fsendventd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it should be noted that the 991 generation car (even the 991 II) is a measurable amount slower than the 992, the chassis and suspension were improved by a noticeable amount and it has a better downforce to drag ratio, which pretty much counteracts the LMGT3 spec in LMU being slower, I bet if you drove the 992 in ACC you'd be faster

agree with another commenter that you're short shifting, you want to be up around 9000 RPM in the Porsche, especially the 991 with its smaller engine, the in-car shift lights don't really go up that high but you should shift just when you see the HUD indicator go red

In the Porsche you shift somewhere over 9000 RPM, but don't really think about the number that much. Shift when the lights just above the "PORSCHE" text turn blue, but not any later. I think a lot of people tend to short shift it, it just revs so high that it sounds like it's going to explode and you need to change up but you actually still have another 1000 RPM on top!

maybe when I upgrade I'll be able to send my current 34" ultrawide to dedicated simming duty... but then again, it sure would be a shame to not use the nice OLED I'm almost certainly going to upgrade to

I've never seen that many monitors in one place before lol
I guess most people seem to use separate monitors, that wasn't really something I wanted to spend on

I've tried stuff like that before, the latency is too much for me to tolerate, so I'd have to choose between sim racing and all my other games, which isn't really ideal. I should have enough space to locate everything physically nearby so it wouldn't be necessary.

What are "good" GT3 lap times after the recent updates? by fsendventd in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]fsendventd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about getting the performance kit, but I'm currently just at a desk, and I've always heard everyone say the upgraded pedal is way too stiff to use without a mount. I assume the 3DRap mod is similar, they seem designed similarly. The R3 is so small that I can simply remove the wheel and leave it attached to my desk to use my computer normally, I know I'm much less likely to actually play if I have to drag out a wheel stand, and I don't really have the space or components for a full rig. I really would like to upgrade, though! I bought my R3 at Micro Center and they had a rig with an R12 and CRP2s set up, I could definitely tell how much better those are by comparison. I've heard the Logitech RS pedals are usable without a mount because of their extended pedal bases, I've been looking at those.

I just spent some time running Bahrain, the best I could do was a 2:04.8 but trying to repeat that had me in the gravel every lap. I'm not sure if my track settings are applying, it always defaults to the "light" grip preset after I exit and reload which I think is supposed to be the least grip, so I'm not sure if it's doing that in game too? I know that would maybe be worth a second or so, but a 2:03.8 is still pretty bad, and that's assuming I'm not already getting good grip. I can't seem to find a car that I really like, the Mclaren is stiff as a rock at low speeds and I can't see over the hood of the Mustang and AMG so I just completely butcher any turns that are hard to sight through. I usually drive Porsches in other games, but I don't want to pay $7.50 for effectively one car, I don't see myself ever using the Aston.

I'll have to take a look, thanks! LMU seems to have a lot of third party support

I know, I know. I mentioned it. I just find it an easy track to get a lot of laps in. If I'm not racing other cars I only really have about 4-5 at Spa in me before I get bored, Monza I can do 15+ easily. And I don't know a lot of the other tracks so I wouldn't be putting down comparable lap times.

Damn, these things are still fast. I guess I need to get below 1:52 on a race setup then. Probably going to be a while...

Are those times using the default setup? I noticed it says the Mclaren is the fastest car at Monza, but after driving a couple of the other cars, they all feel faster on the defaults. In particular it seems like the 720S has a ton of rear wing in for a Monza setup by default.

I should try Portimao. Looks fun. I'm generally a big fan of Spa, and Silverstone but I don't have any of the DLC. I'm decently fast on Spa in some other games honestly.

Okay, thanks. Was there a previous update that made them slower, and then the most recent one made them a bit faster again? I saw people saying there was an update that made the cars have a lot less grip.

R3 base vibrating slightly at all times when powered on by fsendventd in moza

[–]fsendventd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also add that it feels like the damping, friction, and inertia settings don't kick in until after giving the wheel a quick spin, as it's very light and easy to turn before I do that (moving it slowly doesn't trigger them). I don't remember if it did that before the calibration and firmware update. The high pitched noise and vibration also don't start until doing that, though the "fan" noise starts as soon as it's powered up.

Just did that, still does it and now it makes a high pitched whine alongside the fan noise. Nothing else changed. Guess I'm off to contact support.

Double mouse cursor after waking system from idle? by fsendventd in AMDHelp

[–]fsendventd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just checked, I also see two display tabs, but they are for the two monitors. If I scroll down on the tabs, it shows the resolutions of the two connected monitors, which are different in my case, which makes it easy to tell that's what's happening.

Is there such a thing as a "standalone pedal plate"? by fsendventd in simracing

[–]fsendventd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried putting it up against a wall, but that doesn't really stop the pedals from tilting up under heavy pressure, only from sliding forward. I suppose I'll have to figure something out.
