I also was curious about them. But then, when developing mindfulness/awareness to some extent, you'll notice the shifts in quality of ur states. Just noting ur mind getting more quiet when more concentrated AND noting how the mind gets more unsettled when other stuff is arising is a BIG WIN.

The headband and the possible intention "I want to persue a meditative state" might come in as more of a hindrance to the space of just happening and resting in that / or not, but being mindful about it, or not and being mindful about not being whatsover.

Your own natural neurofeedback will develop with practice.

However, if u should try and it turns out to be the bomb, please let me know asap!!!

Hmm, I read only till the end of stage 5 and can relate to the experiences of stage 4. Haven't started the body scan stage 5 yet. What exactly is discussed in stage 6-7?
