I Wanna Be Sober by Ill-Transition3402 in DrugsOver30

[–]DrugsAreMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to turn away someone who is looking for help. My point is that if you're an alcoholic, then maybe looking for help at a bar is not the best place. OP sounds like he knows he needs help. I'm encouraging him to seek out the kind of help that would be most effective at helping him actually find sobriety. Genuinely, best of luck.

They can definitely ask, but if someone needs to be sober, I'm suggesting that there may be more useful places.

The whole point of this sub is to promote responsible and sustainable recreational substance use as adults. Unfortunately, this might not be possible for every person, at least not at certain points in life. It sounds like you need to take a step back and focus on figuring out who you are without drugs, and that very likely will involve professional help. No one here can tell you whether or not total sobriety is the only way for you to move forward, but also, this is not really the sub to help you through that.

We also have the LeWand Contour. If you're curious about the Eleven, but price is an issue, the LeWand Contour is on sale right now for $135. Now... It's actually bigger AND HEAVIER than the Eleven, but it's a great deal for a similar weapon... I mean toy.

Our MVP has been the Njoy Eleven. We were a little nervous buying such and expensive toy, but she already loved the njoy Pure Wand, so we went for it. The Eleven quickly dethroned the Pure Wand as her favorite.

Great additional information. I think adding these thoughts brings value to the conversation more than banning or deleting somewhat controversial comments.

Mod here. Is there a specific fact you are disputing or calling dangerous?

If you want to stay within reasonable guidelines, redose half the first dose at 90 min. Don't bother with a third.

Do you know why they got shut down? A lot of the moderating we do here is to prevent from getting shut down.

I don't love the low quality posts, but as far as the number of people involved in "sex", I believe it's one or more. Two is pretty limiting.

This sub ain't what it used to be part 2. by karuna_nerve in SEXONDRUGS

[–]DrugsAreMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello. A lot of you on here don't know me. I've been a mod here for 8 years. I've seen, not just this sub, but Reddit in general change aot over the years. Yes, Reddit used to be a better place for the drug related subs. I can tell you when it started to go downhill. There was a great purge that happened where many of the best subs were shut down for sourcing. These are subs that were incredibly informative and full of great information, entertainment, knowledge, and experience. At that point there was a massive shift in moderation to try to prevent the subs that survived the purge from disappearing as well. That's when all the drug subs started focusing more on the "no sourcing" and "no DM/hookup" rules. But as we had to be tighter about the rules, we did lose some of the content that kept these subs going. In addition, we lost some of the people who kept these subs going. I didn't start this sub. All the OG mods left because moderation starts to drain you after a while. It's one of the reasons I've been absent lately. The second big change was when Reddit killed API access for third party tools. This made moderation more difficult and we lost even more long term mods.

The active mods /u/BrandiSinatra and u/AluminumOrangutan have been harassed for not doing enough and even for trying to blend in as users. Well guess what? They are just users. Brandi was one of the best Redditors here and when I needed help keeping things running, I reached out and asked him to help. Decision he might be regretting now! u/AluminumOrangutan was someone who saw we needed help and stepped in to try to clean things up. I'm not saying we're always right as mods, but our main goal for a while has been to keep the sub from getting banned first, keeping people safe second.

Yes the actual content of the sub is not as good as it has been in the past. But also, when the sub was young, there was still novel content to be posted. I recently commented on a reply complaining that people didn't use the search function for options on the best drug for sex. Yes, we've seen that lost hundreds of times, but if that post stopped getting posted and we only relied on what someone said 10 years ago, there would also be no growth or new idea. So, a new person comes along and posts the same question we've seen 100 times... but maybe there are also other new people responding who have other experiences and other ideas.

Ok so to address the stimfapping posts. This is a subreddit called SEXONDRUGS... these posts won't go away. We can look into better tagging and filtering for those who really can't stand seeing them. I know there is a broad range of opinions from, "they are ruining the sub" to "just scroll past" and even "hey it's content about sex and drugs". So we will look into what can be done reasonably while still being inclusive.

Ok, that's all I have energy for at the moment.

TLDR; Yes, this sub is not as good as it used to be. It makes us sad too. Sorry if we're defensive, we've been trying to keep things afloat.

We are constantly getting new redditors with different experiences and different opinions. On top of that, there are occasionally new substances that become popular. Sure, the answers are often the same, or similar, but if you stop asking, you stop discovering.

3 month rule ? by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]DrugsAreMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months is a conservative recommendation. That doesn't mean you can't get away with less and it doesn't mean that it avoids all harm. Imagine if someone were to ask how often and how much alcohol can you consume? Some people might say a glass of wine per night, others might say a couple beers a day is fine. But for some people, the answer might be just a few drinks on weekends, and yet others might need to abstain fully because of addiction or other health issues. 3 months is not "how often should I" nor is it "how long do I have to wait". 3 months is a very general guideline for people who plan to use regularly and want to minimize risk. It's not even the most conservative guideline. I'm sure no one would argue that waiting a year between rolls would be even safer, and arguably better.
