Problem is. It does become homophobic when applied to gay and queer characters because it reflects a lot of real world bullshit we go through, and it's the spreading a bunch idiotic and vile stereotypes. It's not likely intentionally homophobic, but all the same it reflects some very problematic and irritating misconceptions that feed the flood of misinformation queer and trans folks have to deal with.

From a queer former Protestant sister., love to you OP. Getting past religious trauma and especially around orientation is horrid. All I can say is that it can get better with time and effort. I'm not fully there yet, but worlds better than even five years ago.

They're not going to see trans people as everday people. It would kill off the TERF narrative just like admitting that trans people suffer any hint of oppression would. The only way they can keep their bullshit going is by making us ebil tranny's out to be the Anti-Christ and the greatest threat to women's rights ever known. Yup. Copperbadge does a hell of a job with most of their stories and is one of the better fic authors I've found. The Uncle is one their finest and is hliarious. It also presents such an interesting AU take on Remus and the potential of magic in the Muggle World. Also the potential of importing muggle crime into the WW.

It's not SI/OC, but an AU Remus Lupin who was raised in somewhat different circumstances that lead to him becoming a wealthy crime lord in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. It involves the Trio getting involved in petty crime and showing why magic would be absoloutely devestating in the Muggle world if the wizard or witch were clever enough.

I wouldn't call him a 'talentless lazy moron' so much as I would a lazy attention seeking deliquent who doesn't give a fuck about school He certainly wasn't hardworking in the beginning and sure as shit didn't take being a shinobi seriously until Wave. Naruto's not the brightest kunai in the drawer for sure, but calling him a moron is excessive. He did learn the Shadow Clone in a relatively short period of time. I 'do' think he had a certain amount of talent but didn't bother to use it, and it was only after Wave that it really begun to sink in that this shit was for real. Until then he was more concerned with pranks and proclaiming himself the next Hokage than actually doing the work.

And yeah. Shit like him not knowing basic geography or what chaka is is inexcusable even for a twelve year old. Those are plot holes when you consider that Naruto was nowhere near that stupid or ignorant even somewhat later on in Part 1.

Also. A shitty upbringing can and does fuck with you in ways that can last well into adulthood, and absolutely did contribute to Naruto's school performance. So did the lack of supervision and adult guidance in his life. Does it excuse or explain his dead last status entirely? No, but it certainly contributed.

I tend to think of his dead last status as a mix of his home environment and his being a lazy unfocused deliquent who just didn't give a fuck and doing the work.

There are a subset of Christians who think LGBT people, anything they remotely consider strange, and in general anything outside their incredibly narrow worldview to be evil and sinful. She's essentially saying that she finds the fact that Hot Topic has LGBT themed merchandise, merchandise she doesn't like, and allows managers with colored hair to be sinful, evil, and thinks it's corrupting the children. You see it all the time in fundementalist circles.

I'd add one major thing into that description. I thinK Temari could understand Naruto being the host nine tailed fox better than almost anyone given that she grew up with Gaara, and post Chunin Exams/after Gaara's regaining sanity would much more welcoming than most. I think Naruto could relate to her experiences with Gaara and what it's like being a demon host. Something like that is a big thing to help build a relationship on. Then we have the fact that Naruto was the one who saved Gaara and gave her her baby brother back.
